My Mom loved the Words Of Hope Festival. Every year she wrote a big fat check for it. Words of Hope was meant to spread hope and awareness. Stop bullying stop self hate, and hate in general. She hated bullies. Which is one reason why her and my Father never got along. I knew he loved her so much in fact that when she left it changed him even more. He was always distant always away at work, but when he was home he was happy. Controlling, but happy. Until it all started to change.
Mom got sick. Dad got distant.
I don't think she would be proud me. Or the person I've become.
" Words of Hope Festival! There will be food entertainment and of course words of Hope." I rolled my eyes as Mindy one of the dancer pranced around with fliers for the festival. I sat at the booth with my feet propped up. The only reason I'm here is because we get to miss class in order to advertise for the festival.
A another group of boys walked by Mindy quickly handed out a paper. "Come join us at the Words of Hope-" The group walked right past us one of them bumping into to sweet little Mindy nearly knocking her down.
" Hey Jackass!" I called out jumping out my chairs. The group of guys instantly turned around eyeing me as I approached. " You bumped into her." The guy's lips quivered as they searched for words. " That's Finn's girlfriend." I roll my eyes in annoyance at the guy who failed to whisper.
" Where sorry, we didn't see her there."
" You've got on those big ass bifocals. Watch where you're going alright." I cursed standing in front of Mindy and at the four eyed bastards in-front of us. " You know Kinsley it's fine-" I cut Mindy off and went back to the good of frighten boys.
" Apologize!" I demanded causing them to jump.
" S-sorry Kinsley." I scoffed. " Not to me her."
" It's really no big deal Kinsl-" I cut her off once more giving the boys narrow eyes. " Where sorry Mindy." They said in unison.
" Now take the damn flyers." I snatched some off the tables a handful actually they struggle to caring them all. " And pass them around to your friends." The nodded apologizing once more before scrambling off
I sighed turning back around and flopping down in my chair.
" Was that necessary?" Mindy questioned.I kicked my feet back up and relaxed in the chair closing my eyes. " Stop talking Mindy I'm sunbathing." I replied. Yes. I was easily annoyed and aggravated. I've been avoiding my friends for 2 days now, Jasper included yet I figured that would be hard due to the fact that we have a session today. Not only that but I have a major test coming up in my United States Government class, the festivals days away, everyone and there moms talking about Finn and I. I have blocked my best friends from everything. I haven't told my dad about me performing at the festival, oh yeah and the guy I like saw me publicly humiliate someone and than cry minutes later on once it happens to me.
So, yeah I was totally taking my anger out. Is it right? No. But am I doing it? Absolutely.
Mindy Beck. A junior with the built of freshmen easily pushed easily forgotten and never noticed. Why do you think it took 28 chapters for her to even be mentioned? Point is Mindy Beck was probably the least extraordinary girl I knew. She's what people considered basic and meek. She was short and stocky with thick framed glasses and always wore this large grey hoodie to hide all her insecurities. I hadn't talk to her much.If I was in need of a pencil. I didn't know Mindy Beck well and maybe if did I wouldn't consider her to be the least extraordinary girl I knew.
What is the significance of Mindy Beck? You might ask. She's bland, she's invisible she's.... Mindy Beck.
And I'm such a bitch for thinking that. Im a bitch for thinking that Mindy Beck is invisible just because I don't pay attention to her. I'm a bitch for thinking I'm better than her.
" I'm sorry." I exclaim. Mindy turns around surprised by my words. " I'm sorry for being a hypocrite. I told them to stop treating you like crap yet. I've been doing the same thing." I exhale once more. " I'm sorry Mindy Beck. For being a classic mean girl."
Mindy eyes widen in astonishment.
" I-I." She stammered for words. " It's okay." She simply said with a shy smile. My phone vibrated in my pocket and without a doubt I knew who it was. I pulled out my phone and saw the notifications from the group chat with Bee and Nani. Nani had texted and asked if I wanted to sleep over. Her attempts of gaining my forgiveness was failing and I didn't need to reply for her to know that. She's the last person I want to the the last person I ever want to talk to. What she pulled at the fire was something hard to forgive. My phone vibrated again with another notification yet this one was from Jasper.
Coffee Cup?
Instead I texted him my address. As much as I enjoyed our time the Coffee cup it didn't offer much privacy not with Fawn breathing down my neck. It was obviously she hated me I knew she was trying to kill me from the time she gave me a coffee cup with out a sleeve nearly burned my self. Not only that but she intentional got my order of Decfa salted caramel mocha latte with 2 pumps of vanilla substitute 2 pumps of white chocolate mocha for mocha and substitute 2 pumps of hazelnut for toffee nut half whole milk and half breve with no whipped cream extra hot extra foam extra caramel drizzle extra salt add a scoop of vanilla bean powder with light ice well stirred wrong. Likely seriously how can you mess that up!
" Do you know him." Mindy asked. I followed her eyes to a guy in the parking lot. He leaned against a black motorcycle with a cigarette in his mouth. He wasn't a high schooler his rugged persona and light facial hair made it clear that he was older than the rest of us. He was handsome, it couldn't be denied and eyes that where so distinct that they reminded me of...
Jasper.Just as his name came to mind he came to view. Approaching the Man across the parking lot. Jasper clearly wasn't pleased by his presence. Yet it didn't seem to bother the Man because he still grinned dropping his cigarette and crushing it with his shoe.
" No." I replied to Mindy my eyes not breaking from his presences.
" But I'd like to."
