Ch.19: Changing partners

"Wave? Bakit hindi ka kumakain?" tanong ni Phoebe, ang auction date ni Wave.

Simula pa kanina, Wave's just been pushing around his food.

"No, I don't know how to dance," Wave answered, not looking at her.

Sa sagot niyang iyon, it's really obvious that his mind is drifting somewhere else.

"Ha? Sabi ko, why are you not eating?"

"Oh, right," Wave replied weakly. He grabbed his knife and fork and started to cut his steak into pieces.

Actually, there's nothing wrong with the food, with the place, with the music or kahit na si Phoebe. But Wave can't seem to concentrate on eating when the scene in front him is bugging him.

Kung alam niyo na ang kwento ni Wave, siguradong sasabihin niyong naiinis na naman si Wave kasi ang sweet na naman ni Nicole at Dylan na nakaupo sa katabi nilang table. Pero nagkakamali kayo. It's now a whole lot different story.

Wave's been huffing and rolling his eyes everytime that he sees Jeryll and Anthony na nakaupo sa tabi ng table nina Nicole at Dylan.

Jeryll is laughing with something that Anthony had just said. Mukhang nag-e-enjoy ang "girlfriend" niya kasama ang "date" niya tonight.

He doesn't know what's wrong and what's really happening with him now. Ang alam lang niya, naiinis na talaga siya. Gusto na niyang hilain si Jeryll palayo sa table na 'yon at palayo sa lalaking 'yon.

How can she act like that, knowing that her "boyfriend" is here?!

Wave shook his head to remove away his thoughts. He sighed heavily. Siguro, hindi lang siya sanay na wala si Jeryll sa tabi niya at sumusunod sa lahat ng sinasabi niya.

Yeah, siguro...

After dinner, the MCs announced that the dance floor is open.

Soon enough, the dance floor is packed with partners dancing to the slow song that is playing.

Wave watched lazily as people started dancing in pairs. He yawned.

Nakakaantok naman dito. Kailan ba ito matatapos? It's so boring.

Phoebe stopped talking incessantly hearing Wave's yawn. Kanina pa siya nagsasalita dito pero Wave would just nod at look away from her. Sinundan niya ng tingin kung saan ba nakatingin si Wave and saw that he's looking at the dancefloor. Nakakahiya man, pero chance na niya ito, besides nagbayad naman siya 'di ba?

"Uhh...err..Wave..you wanna...dance?" she asked him sheepishly.

"Ayoko," Wave said coldly, giving her a lazy look and then shifting his gaze back at the dance floor.

Phoebe gasped at his coldness at yumuko na lang siya sa kahihiyan.

Suddenly, Wave eyes widened at what he saw.

Tumayo si Jeryll at Anthony is and they are heading towards the dancefloor.

Sasayaw sila.

Habang sumasayaw, Anthony leaned closer to Jeryll's right ear at bumulong, "Salamat at pumayag ka na sumayaw. This song is really my favorite."

"No! Ako dapat ang magpasalamat sa'yo for saving me earlier, Anth," she whispered back.

He just smiled and leaned in her ear again. He pulled her closer to him. Then, kumanta siya.
