Lucy POV
The time was exactly 12 when we hear the grand clock outside and we all rush to the balcony to face a hologram of a giant pumpkin-man?! HUH?!
"Pumpkin," Happy exclaims!
"Attention to all members participating in the Grand Magic Games, it is time for the preliminary round to begin. Beginning now, we're going to take the 113 participating teams and have an elimination round to pare them down to eight," the pumpkin-man spoke.
"An elimination round," Gray questioned?
"We didn't hear about this," Erza says.
There is no way that there are 113 guilds here. That's more than the number of guilds in Fiore. There is something going on here. Weird magic, as Jellal told us, and now more guilds. Are the sponsors for this game to blame for this feeling? It doesn't sit well with me.
"We get more and more guilds to participate, and we always hear that the games are getting boring. So, this year, there will be only 8 teams competing in the official games. The rules for this round are simple," the pumpkin-man said, as the whole inn started to rise, as well as many similar inns. "All of you are going to race each other. The goal is to get to the finish line first, Domus Flau. You are free to use magic. There are no restrictions. But all 5 members have to reach the goal together. Oh, and we don't take any responsibility for any lives lost in this game. The Preliminary Round of the Grand Magic Games, Sky Labyrinth... begin!"
Paths, leading to a giant sphere, were created in the balcony.
"All five members, huh? How are going to participate without a fifth member," I questioned.
"Isn't it obvious, I'll participate instead," Happy jokes.
"Let a man handle this job," Elfman said.
"That's not a bad idea," I said as everyone looks in my direction, "I mean, we have to take Elfman, or we'll be disqualified. So, we'll let him fill in Wendy's spot, and Lissana and Happy can go to the Capital's Garden, to find Wendy and Carla."
Everyone nodded, and we all faced the Sky Labyrinth.
"So, how are we going about this round," Erza questioned.
"We should head right in, like a man," Elfman retorted.
"I think I have a spell that may help us, but it's pretty magic draining," I said, as everyone looked in my direction, "My body will start heading to the direction of our goal, as long as I am untouched by anyone, while the spell is active. That's where you guys come in. I know I am telling you guys to take a back seat for this one, but it's the best plan we have. Sounds like a plan?"
"Sure, if you're up for it, magic drainage has always been a problem for you," Natsu said.
Now you show some sort of a concern! WTH Natsu?! Where was that when you saw me, as you made fun of me in the guild?!
"Natsu, I am not the same wizard I was 8 years ago, SO STOP BELITTLING ME!"
"That's n-."
"I am going to add a special enchantment spell on all of us, so we can run faster," I said as I cast the enchantment and the Navigation of the Stars Spell.
"Let's win this, for Fairytail!"
