Lucy Heartfillia, a proud wizard of the Fairytail Guild, overhears her best friend and crush, Natsu Dragneel saying, "Lucy? I don't like her, she's pretty weak. I like someone strong, and she isn't even close."
Heartbroken, betrayed. and defeated...
Yukino was shocked for a second and then smiled. "If you plan on destroying them, keep an eye out for our strongest wizard- "
"I believe you're talking about me, Yukino," a voice said as a magic bubble came between me and Yukino.
Out from it appeared a slim young woman of average height with long, straight and glossy black hair. She had a mean smirk on her face with eyes that shined with pride.
"Who the hell are you," Natsu asked?
"Pardon my intrusion, but I am Minerva Orland," she replied. "I have no interest in fairy trash, but you, Lucy Heartfillia, have caught my attention." She inched closer to me.
Startled by her words, I stepped back.
She noticed my movement and assured, "Don't worry, I won't hurt you. If I did that, it would cause much harm to the guild's reputation. As of right now, I want to see how much you can do. Our guild just lost a Celestial Wizard and I would like for that position to be replaced by a stronger wizard like you, Lucy."
I clenched my fists at her words, "How could you say something like that about your guild members! Yukino is a strong and capable wizard, and she tried her hardest in the match. Sometimes, trying hard and losing is the best way to learn. Instead of giving her another chance, you ridiculed her. You are making her seem like a mere pawn that can be replaced."
"Lucy, you aren't getting the idea. A fairy should know its place. Worry not, I'll get you to join one way or another. We will settle this on the battlefield. If you will, I'll have to take my leave. Farewell Fairies," she said and went through the magic bubble gate.
I sighed in relief! What the hell is up with the writer of my life? Why do I keep attracting tigers?!
"That was Lady Minerva. As I was saying, she is the strongest wizard in Sabertooth. Her magic is very dangerous, and she is known to get what she wants. I give you fair warning, Lucy. Thank you for everything, but I think it's time for me to take my leave," Yukino bowed and took her to leave.
"Well, I think we should all get inside too," Wendy said.
We all went inside to enjoy ourselves once again. Erza had a guest of her own and all seemed great. For that night, we partied and slept; all of our problems seemed to disappear. Everything was peaceful, but the stress came plunging back when the next game was announced.
"The next event is, Pandemonium!"
With an ire name, we didn't know what to expect. I knew only one person who could take on this event.
"I think Erza should take this challenge. I think that would be the best thing to do right now. If this event is defined by its name, then Erza should go," I proposed.
"But I want to do it," Natsu complained.
Gray hit Natsu and said, "You already competed, Flamebrain!"
Suddenly, Natsu erupted in a war of insults, which took the stress off of me.
The players gather on the field. Mato shows everyone Pandemonium; a giant building where monsters live. He explains that the monsters inside are classed from D to S, the D-class being quite formidable, whilst the S-class can even rival that of a Wizard Saint. The rules of the game are simple, each competitor will go in one by one and fight several monsters for points. They can select how many monsters they wish to face but are warned that what level of monster they get will be randomized. To decide who goes first, the players all pick straws. Erza, having drawn the straw to enter the castle first, challenges all 100 monsters herself at the same time.
That's something Erza would do! I just hope she's okay.
The whole battle takes the crowd by surprise. From the very beginning, Erza takes down a majority of the monsters. When there are roughly five monsters left, I sense her exhaustion.
"She still hasn't defeated the S-class monster. Do you think she'll be okay," I ask.
"Don't worry! Erza is S-class on her own. She won't be defeated," Natsu encouraged.
Erza charges at the last A-class monster which comes down on her with a two-hand smash, which Erza blocks before changing into her training clothes and Benizakura to destroy the monster.
As two B-class monsters attack, Erza jumps into the air and destroys one, using its body as a platform from which to attack the other.
With only the S-class monster left, Erza looks up at a small eye-like monster, thinking it to be said opponent. Soon the small creature turns into a giant and the battle moves into the arena, with the now-large S-Class monster attempting to crush a weakened Erza with its foot. Even though she gets kicked and battered, Erza gets back up.
Day 3 of the grand magic games changed everything! All the stress was gone! Despite her countless injuries, the fairy that should've fallen, SORE! Titania triumphed and our sprites were born anew! With sword in hand, Erza shook the whole crowd. Fairytail was in complete tears with our joy revived, we were every ready to take the whole competition by storm!
