Lucy POV
The next day at the guild, everyone was enjoying themselves in conversations that no one noticed the humanoid amphibian enter the hall other than Mirajane and me.
Mirajane looked at the visitor and asked, "Is there anything I can help you with?"
The amphibian-like person said, "I am Laden from the Magic Council. I would like to speak to your master."
Mirajane replied, "Master is up in his office. Let me take you to him."
Now everyone's attention was directed towards Laden. As Mirajane and Laden walked up to the office, whispers and rumors filled the guildhall.
"Natsu, what the hell did you do this time," Gray teased.
"Huh?! Why do you think it's because of me?! It's more than likely about you and your habit of stripping in public," Natsu replied. Natsu and Gray started to butt heads and throwing insults back and forth.
"Actually, I don't think it's about either of you two. If the council wanted to tell Master about something you guys did then they would've sent a message," Levy, who was sitting right next to me, said.
"True, but at the same time, it could be that they wanted to talk about "Mystogan's" role in the Games. They might still think that it's Jellal," Erza added.
"That's not likely. If I remember correctly, someone excused him, right," Levy questioned.
"Yea! Well, whatever it is, I don't think that just sitting here and worrying about it will help," I added.
Soon all of us distracted ourselves with more conversations, but it was placed on hold when Master entered through the hall. "Lucy and Levy, please come to my office."
I gulped. Happy said, "Ooooooo, Lucy's in trouble!!!!"
"Happy, shut up," I said, worried about what was going to happen. I looked at Natsu, who was staring right at me. I mouthed, "It'll be alright."
"Let's go-o Luce," Levy said, worry lapsed in every word. Gajeel came forward, patted Levy on her head, and whispered something, which made Levy blush slightly.
When we entered the office, Laden greeted us with a warm smile. Both of us tried to reciprocate it but we were still worried.
Noticing our concern, Laden assured, "Don't worry. You're not in trouble. It's the complete opposite."
Master said, "Please take a seat"
"The Magic Council has been keeping an eye on Fairytail for a long time. After your display in the Games, Lucy Heartfillia, the Council was very impressed. Upon further investigation, we were also told that you and your friend Levy are highly intelligent and quite qualified. Both of you have caught the eye of the Magic Council, so they have decided to invite you to the Magic Council Guildmate Program. You will be trained to work for the Magic Council and if all goes well, you will become a part of the head council. Your living expenses will be covered and on top of that, you will be getting paid for this. To give you more of an incentive, the Council has decided to overlook all damages and complaints of your guild. Furthermore, we would turn a blind eye to some errors Fairytail makes in the future."
All the words he said were very shocking. How?! Is this some kind of joke?! I don't think something like this would even happen!
While I was too nervous to say anything, Levy broke the silence and said what I was thinking, "There is no way that's true. I don't understand how we would get picked. There are other people who are more suited to this."
