Schmico Short Stories

Why and How?

A/N - I hope you like this! I'm sorry for not writing for so long, been ill and busy. A lot of stuff has happened with Schmico since I last wrote and I'm loving it, please give me your thoughts on it all! I'm willing to take prompts too!

Levi didn't understand how he had managed to get himself into this situation but he knew he couldn't back out now, he had to put up with it. He knew he was trying to be helpful in the moment but as he walked up to Owen's front door, he started to regret saying yes.

During that days work, there was talk going around of the 'guys' going out for the night. This included Owen, DeLuca, Link, Jackson, Nico and Webber going to a bar, playing music and singing along while having a far too expensive meal. Levi obviously knew of this as Nico had let him know he wasn't going to be home till late.

Later on in that day, Levi was working with Owen down in the pit, helping with patients that all had the same symptoms of the flu and were being overdramatic thinking they were dying. It was fairly boring and Levi was hoping that something interested would come in or be called to another patient but he never was.

While checking up on one of the sick patients, Levi overheard Owen complaining to DeLuca about Amelia not being home to look after Leo and the babysitter having gone down with the flu so he wasn't able to go on the night out with the 'guys'. Levi knew it was not really his business to be listening in on the conversation but the pit, for once, was pretty quiet and he was too bored to not listen. DeLuca came over not long after, waiting for Levi to finish talking to the patient he was with. 

"Is Nico still coming tonight?" He asked casually, arms crossed over his chest while watching Levi. DeLuca and the 'guys' often asked Levi about Nico and what he was doing since they all knew they were together. 

"I assume so, he hasn't said otherwise, why?" Levi looked up to DeLuca, putting a chart down at the end of the patient's bed before walking over to another one a few beds over. DeLuca followed, clearly thinking for a moment before deciding to speak.

"May just reschedule because Owen can't find a babysitter for Leo," DeLuca sighed, sounding slightly disappointed that they wouldn't be going out. Levi knew that Nico loved spending time with his friends, getting a break from work, having fun and would be bummed about not going. Owen came over not long after DeLuca wandered off somewhere, leaving the pit feeling quieter than before. 

"So you can't find a babysitter for Leo?" Levi spoke but only as a way to make his work less boring and less awkward in the quiet. Owen looked up in response, nodding his head.

"Yeah, I literally only need someone for a couple hours," He said, focusing on the patient. "Leo will be asleep most the time anyway but no one is around," Owen finished, beginning to walk away from Levi to go check up on another patient.

"I could look after him," Levi blurted out before he could stop himself. Owen looked up at him, a thankful look on his face.

"That would be amazing! I'll see you at 7," Owen finished, leaving before Levi could find a way to back out. He had never babysat, not even as a teen for extra money. Was he even good enough to look after a toddler?

"Why and how did you get yourself into this situation?" Nico chuckled slightly as the two walked out of the hospital and to Nico's car. Levi shrugged and sighed,

"I didn't mean to offer, it just kind of slipped out," Levi said as the two of them got into the car. Nico looked to his boyfriend, smiling.

"And you couldn't back out?" He laughed, starting the car. Levi whined slightly, looking from the window to Nico.
