Chapter 59

Wager.

Leo POV

Boreas recovered and scoffed.

" Oh wonderful. The almighty god of scraps is here. "

My dad growled. " Mind your tone Boreas. You may be a god but you forget that I am above you. "

" Rank means nothing here, Hephaestus. In this environment not even your flames can melt me. "

" Care to wager that statement? " My dad smirked. Not my smirk, but a god's smirk. Filled with twice the confidence.

" Certainly. If I defeat you your son will spend the remainder of his days with my daughter. "

" Fine. However, should I defeat you, than you will leave my son and his companion, Calypso, alone for the remainder of their days. "

" D-dad. I-I'm not so sure about this. His magic is so s-strong here. " I hoped my voice would reach him in this weakened state.

" Don't worry Leo. You have a promise to keep. I will not lose. " He set his hands ablaze.

Boreas laughed. " I'm afraid your son is right. Not even you can defeat me here, Hephaestus. "

Boreas endlessly sent his ice magic at my dad, who dodged and melted it with ease.

" How pathetically predictable of you Boreas. Pelt me with so many snowballs so that I do not have time to attack you. Though you are forgetting one major factor. " My dad vanished and reappeared behind Boreas a split second later.

" I. Am. A. God. " My dad grasped Boreas' arm in a fiery grip and he howled in pain. My dad spun in a circle and sent Boreas flying.

He smirked and walked over to me.

" Leo. Please forgive me. It is my fault that you are in this condition. I had such confidence in your abilities that I thought you could defeat Boreas. As your father, I apologize. "

" I-it's okay. " I said weakly.

" Thank you my son. Now please, " He pulled a square of ambrosia from thin air. " Eat. " He helped me chew and swallow the good of the gods.

I stood; fully re energized.

" That's my boy. " My dad gave me his genuine smile and never had I felt more proud or accepted as his son.

" Curse you Hephaestus! " Boreas shouted in the distance.

" Now then. " Hephaestus pulled out a pile of scraps. " Watch your old man work. " His hands began tinkering with speed that even I couldn't see. A minute later a fully assembled flame thrower rested in his hands.

" Uhhh Dad...you're already a flame thrower...why build one? "

" Because this one doubles the strength of my flames. Boreas doesn't stand a chance. "

Boreas came flying full speed towards us.

My dad smirked, flipped a switch, and pulled a trigger. God like golden flames shot out and sent Boreas straight at the ground. Yelling in both anger and pain.

" Give up Boreas. "

Boreas literally threw a snowball at my dad. It melted as soon as it touched him.

Hephaestus sighed. " I guess I'll have to melt you. " He re flipped the switch in his flamethrower and pointed it at Boreas' face.

" Wait! I yield! You are victorious! "

" Good. " Hephaestus smiled. " Now unfreeze my son's friends and get out of here. "

Boreas snapped his fingers and disappeared.

" Good. Now Leo, I know you hate it but we're going to teleport back to the top of the ice castle. "

" Ugh. Fine. " Great. Teleportation.

My dad grabbed my arm and we reappeared at the top of the ice castle where my friends were recuperating. As was considering I had just teleported and my head was spinning.

" Leo! " My friends saw me, then saw my dad and bowed in respect. " Lord Hephaestus. "

" Please. There is no need for that. Rise heroes. " My friends did as he said.

" I must go Leo. I fear I will not see for a while as the big guy doesn't know I helped you, let alone fought a fellow god. Goodbye. "

" Bye dad. "

He vanished and my friends all patted me on the back and told me that they were all fine, but then Piper dropped a bomb.

" Where's Calypso? "

My eyes widened. " Oh gods Calypso! She's going to be pissed! "

" Whoa whoa. Chill Leo. Care to explain? " Jason said.

I explained to them what I did.

" Dude..." Jason said.

" You are so dead. " Percy finished.

" She'll be upset no doubt, but I don't think she'll hurt you. " Reyna stated.

" Now then. " Annabeth said. " Let's get back on the Argo and you can call Festus and Calypso, okay? "

We walked to the Argo and I used the computer to call Festus back.

Half an hour later a golden dragon became visible in the skyline.

Festus landed in the Argo and Calypso dismounted from him.

She did not look happy.
