Chapter 54

Snack Stop.

Calypso POV

I awoke from a very unpleasant nap. It seems I really can't sleep well without Leo beside me.

I walked out of Leo's cabin and climbed the stairs back to the main deck.

Annabeth seemed to be typing something into argo's SAT NAV system while Percy played with her hair.

" Hey! How was your nap? " Piper walked towards me and smiled.

I frowned. " Not very good. I kept waking up right after I had managed to fall asleep. "

Piper hummed. " Can't sleep without Leo? "

I blushed a tiny bit. " Doesn't seem like it. "

" Well don't worry. Annabeth said that we've got about 2500 miles to go. So we should get to Lake Tahoe in about 30 hours. "

" That quick? " I asked.

" Uh-huh. Leo's ship is pretty fast but only he can push it to it's limit and reach max speed. " Piper said.

" Leo didn't teach Annabeth how to do that? "

" I'm sure he did, but Leo's control system is so specific to him that only he can fully understand it. "

" Ah. "

Piper walked away to join Jason at the right end of the ship.

" Calypso! " Annabeth called to me from Leo's control center.

I jogged over to her and smiled.

" What is it? "

" Are you hungry? " She asked.

As if on cue my stomach rumbled and Annabeth giggled.

" Alright. Percy wanted something to munch on so we were going to stop at the next Gas Station the computer points us towards. "

* Calculation Complete. Nearest Petrol Station 10.5 miles away. *

" Well just sit right for now. We'll be there in about 10 minutes. "

* The Gas Station!!!!"

" Annabeth and I have 50$ bucks so grab whatever you like. " Percy gave us all a smile and we walked inside.

Jason headed straight for the chips, Piper made a bee-line for the chocolate bars, Percy went for the Sweets, and Annabeth was being dragged while Percy held her hand.

I walked over to Jason to see him hoarding chips into his arms.

" Um Jason? "

" Yeah? "

" Could you help me? I'm not really familiar with modern snacks..."

He rose his eyebrow then smiled.

" Well Leo told me he wanted you to try a Choc-A-Dile. "

" A Choc-A-Dile? "

" Yeah. It's a Chocolate covered Twinkie. "

" What's a Twinkie? "

Jason sighed. " It's a soft yellow cake treat with cream on the inside. "

" Sounds bad for you..."

" Oh it is. But seeing as how it's junk food and tastes good, who cares! Follow me. " I followed Jason to a basket full of wrappers labeled

'Choc-A-Diles'

" Grab two of these, and two of the regular twinkles. "

I grabbed what his fingers pointed to and met with everybody at the, I believe it was called a cash register?

Percy dumped a ton of Blue Taffy for Annabeth and him, Piper placed a box of chocolates on the counter, Jason dumped his 10 bags of chips next to Percy's taffy, and I placed my snacks next to Piper's chocolate bars.

The lady behind the counter became wide eyed and then scanned all the items.

" Your total is $28.00. " She said.

Percy gave her a green slip of paper and after fiddling with a drawers the lady gave him 3 slips in return.

" $22 is your change, thank you. "

I guess that's the official money system now. I can see why. Much easier than carrying around a sack of coins.

* Back on the Ship! *

" You want me to unwrap those for you? " Jason asked while munching on his chips.

" Please. "

I handed Jason one of my Choc-A-Diles and a Twinkie and he unwrapped then for me.

" Try the yellow one first. Then try the chocolate one. "

I did as he said and the 'Twinkie' Was nothing special but the Choc-A-Dile was amazing.

" Oh. My. Gods. " These things are no doubt the best thing I've ever had in my life.

" Yeah. Leo made me try one a while ago. Not the best, but pretty good. " Jason said.

" Pretty good?! This is Amazing! "

Haha BTW Choc-A-Diles are a legit thing, though I've only see them when my family and I go on road trips. I get one whenever I can. They're my favorite snack right now.
