Kennedy's POV
We had left camp not too long ago and Bellamy and I were at the back, him ready with his gun and an axe in my hand. All of a sudden, everyone stopped and Bellamy and I looked at each other, concerned.
"What is it?" Bellamy shouted to Octavia, who was at the front.
"I hear something," she said, just loud enough so that we could hear. A chorus of screams came from the front after that and I heard someone yell "GROUNDERS!"
"BACK TO CAMP" Bellamy shouted, turning and running. I felt a hand grip mine and I turned to see Bellamy. We reached the gate and the two of us pulled it open, letting everyone run in. I saw Finn run past us with Miller and Raven on the stretcher and I then saw Jasper and Octavia who were carrying Drew, a blade embedded in his face. Once the last people got through the gate, we slammed it shut, breathing heavily.
"Are you OK?" Bellamy asked me and I nodded. He then climbed up on one of the gunner's posts, holding his gun up. Clarke walked past me and joined him on the stand.
"Where are they? Why aren't they attacking?" he asked, scanning the area.
"Because we're doing exactly what they wanted us to do," she said breathlessly.
"What are you talking about?" he said, lowering his gun slightly. Clarke then turned around to face me, Octavia and Finn.
"Lincoln said that scouts would be the first to arrive," she said.
"If it's just scouts we can fight our way out," Octavia argued fiestily. "That's what Lincoln would do."
"We're done doing what that Grounder would do," Bellamy said back, jumping off the post. "We tried it and now Drew is dead. Do you want to be next?"
"That Grounder saved our lives!" Finn argued back. "I agree with Octavia. For all we know there's one scout out there."
"One scout with incredibly good aim," Jasper added, who was stood at the gunner's post next to the one Clarke was stood on. I felt like I was drowning in the egos of these teenagers.
"Clarke, we can still do this," Octavia pleaded, looking up at her desperately.
"Looking at you Princess. What's it going to be?" he asked. "Run and get picked off out in the open or stand and fight back."
Clarke looked undecided and stepped down from the post. Finn grabbed her arm.
"Clarke, if we're still here when the Grounders get here," he started but Clarke cut him off.
"Lincoln said scouts not scout. More than one. He said get home before the scouts arrive. Finn, they're already here," she then turned to Bellamy, "looks like you've got your fight."
"OK then! This is what we've been preparing for! Kill them before they kill us, gunners to your posts! Use the tunnels to get in and out. From now on the gate stays closed," Bellamy barked his orders. I went to my post on the other side of the gate, grabbing the gun.

It had been several hours and it was now dark. We were still all prepared for battle and Raven and Clarke were in the dropship, trying to get the dropship ready to burn the Grounders. I knew Bellamy was in a foxhole nearby, as was Jasper, Octavia, Harper and Miller. My hands shook violently against the gun, fear completely taking over me. Firing then sounded, coming from the foxholes. A few gunners began to shout randomly but Bellamy's voice sounded on our radios.
