CHAPTER TWELVE

With these words, I tried to pull my hand away from him but his landed over mine. My brows furrowed as my eyes were searching his. He tilted his head slightly to the left, pressing my hand with his on his cheek a bit harder.

"But I missed it so much," he whispered, keeping his eyes shut. "You're all I ever wanted... all that I never knew I needed."

My heart was on fire. Tears started to slowly trickle down my face no matter how much I was trying to prevent them from doing so. I opened my mouth to speak, but his fingers drew the outline of my jaw before slowly caressing my lips and stopping me in my tracks.

"I've stepped on every promise I've made to my self about you more than once. The first time I held you, I was instantly captured. Suddenly, you had become my oxygen," he whispered, smiling, "I knew I loved you, angel... I just didn't know I couldn't live without you."

The butterflies in my stomach came instantly to life with the sound of my little pet name. I could swear that I had stopped breathing, that I was just imagining all of these.

I could see the coldness in his eyes slowly fading. The warmth and love I was always able to see in them had started to return, taking their righteous place back.

I was terrified. I was terrified that I could wake up any moment now...

Hesitantly, afraid that I would make a wrong move, I came closer to him, eliminating the little gap that was separating us, skimming his body with mine. A half smile appeared on his face while his gaze was still piercing deeply into mine.

"Past tense," I whispered, my eyes slowly drifting towards his lips.

"What?" he murmured.

"You used past tense," I whispered, smiling nervously. "What about... now?"

"Witty," he replied, cocking an eyebrow.

As he stared at me, I longed for his kiss. His gaze drift to my lips, and his mouth stretched into a smile that set my whole body on fire. His lips slowly approached mine, but didn't touch me.

I frown as he moved slightly back, leaving me on the verge of begging, and giving him the satisfaction of my weak reaction. A torturous moment later, his lips finally pressed against mine, devouring me while my hands plunged into his tussled hair making him grunt.

When our lips finally parted, he towered over me. I looked at him, his eyes half closed. He's so beautiful... so virile. His left hand rests on my hip, keeping me close. He casually twists a lock of my hair around his finger and brushes it behind my ear, not once taking his eyes off me.

Once again, his lips fall on mine. He mumbles between his scattering kiss and recites a rosary of -I'm in love with you- as if it was vital to him to make me understand.

"You're a spell engraved in my bones..." I whispered softly between his lips.

He ran his fingers slowly on my lips, carefully moving to my collarbones. So many emotions ran in a mere second in front of his eyes. Every contradicting feeling, every sorrow... every happiness.

"There is no taste more addicting than your lips, angel. I missed you... all of you."

"Would you like to go upstairs?" I mumbled hesitantly. Still feeling the warmth of his lips, I mechanically licked mine. Nathan's eyes were captured by this simple, innocent gesture once again.
