EPILOGUE
Three and a half months later...
"Nathan Gray!" I screamed from the bottom of my lungs, "I'm going to fucking kill you!"
"I'm coming, angel! I'm coming!"
Nathan howled from the bedroom as he was trying to put on his pants, his shirt, and to grab his keys. I looked at him frowning, as I supported myself on the doors of the elevator, preventing them from closing.
"How did I let this happen?" I whined, inhaling and exhaling vigorously. "I hate this! I hate you!"
"You look gorgeous, baby! You're amazing, you're doing fine!"
"Oh... God! Ouch! Fuck!"
Nathan grabbed the bag's strap between his teeth, took my hand and pressed with his elbow the button to the lobby. The moment the doors opened, the poor guy at the entrance looked at us terrified.
"You're..." the guy murmured.
"I'm going to kill him!"
"I love you too gorgeous, just breathe in and out..."
Nathan replied chuckling as he helped me into the car. The new guy was sweating like a pig when he saw that my water had broke. He helped Nathan with the bag and almost fainted the moment we took off.
Sunday, 28th of April, 7:30 and 7:35 in the afternoon... I heard the first cry of my babies. I was reborn the moment they placed them inside my arms... when Nathan's tears of happiness trickled down his beautiful face.
A little prince, named Dante... and a little princess, named Michaela- Rose, exactly the way her uncle had dreamed off, illuminated the world with the promise of hope.
"They're perfect," Nathan whispered as he kissed my forehead.
"I'm sorry," I murmured.
"What are you sorry for?"
"I never hated you... I'm sorry I said something so stupid," I looked down with teary eyes.
"You're a bit hormonal but... Angel, are you insane? You just gave me not one, but two, of the most precious gifts a man could hope for, and you think I care about what you said when you were hurting?"
"You don't?" I sniffled, looking at him with puppy eyes, making him chuckle.
"I don't," he replied. "I owe you my life, baby girl."
Nathan huddled up against me on the hospital's bed, as we both held our babies into our embrace, unable to eradicate our eyes from their peaceful bubblegum faces.
A few weeks after our babies birth, I was delivered a handwritten message by a lawyer. My eyes stung from the tears as I realized that what I was reading was Dante's.
My princess... My love,
I know that I shouldn't be calling you that... that if this gets to Nathan somehow, he'll probably kill me, while having all the rights in this world to do it. But on the other hand, if you do read this letter, this would mean that I'm already dead.
I'm sorry, beautiful. I'm sorry that I won't be able to be with you, see you raising your babies. I'm sorry that I won't be able to keep my promise. I'm sorry for every time that I wasn't the man you deserved, even if I wasn't the one you had chosen.
Princess, I want you to know that you held every piece of my existence, my heart. I want you to know that my life felt complete the moment you walked into it. I want you to know that no matter what where I am, I'll always be next to you, guarding you.
