CHAPTER TWENTY- FOUR

It was pretty obvious that we were a little too many people to fit in a regular car... Especially with the train of my dress filling every breathing space! Dad, Nick and Emily were having a blast as the limo rode on the snow, towards the church.

Me on the other hand... I was freaking out, fidgeting with my phone. Sensing my anxiety, my dad took my hand in his, smiling warmly at me as he stroke my fingers with his thumb.

"You'll do fine, chickpea. Just breathe."

"What if I'm not good enough for him?"

"I should be asking your future husband if he's good enough for you, but that man is just as crazy as you are."

"That's just the truest thing ever..."

"Listen to me, chickpea... It's just a ceremony, it's not something that's going to change anything. The love you both hold in you, that's what's going to fuel your wedding today. The rest is only to take God's blessing, ok?"

"Dad, I've missed you so much... and mom... and..."

"No, stop," he whispers, taking me into his arms. "Your mom and brother is definitely watching on you. She would never want you crying on your wedding day! So put your chin up, and let's go mesmerize that poor son of a bitch!"

"Mesmerize?" I chuckle as I wipe a tear away.

"Mesmerize! Enchant! He better start crying when he sees you, or I'll take you back home with me!"

"Dad..."

"You deserve the moon and the stars, chickpea... never forget it."

And as smoothly as my dad's talk went... the car finally came to a stop. Nick helped Emily out of the limo, and Adam hurried to her side. I could see people gathered around the entrance, making it unable for me to spot Nathan.

"Ready, chickpea?"

"Ready, dad. Let's do this."

The sound of my heels was muffled by the snow's thick layer. Every breath I took was visible in the thick, cold air. The ephemeral white cloud created by me, short lived, was dissipated by the next one in a matter of a mere second.

Dante nodded, greeting at me as I took my dad's arm. He was in elegant navy blue suit, with a red rose on his lapel. Both the rose and his lapel, covered by snow.

In the back, Jake in a suit as well, was giving me a smile, that I could see he didn't mean. I mouthed a -thank you- at him, before my eyes started to search once again for Nathan's.

As we moved closer to the church, the crowd divided, revealing Nathan, anxiously stepping back and fort in front of the entrance, holding the bouquet in one hand while pinching his mouth with the other.

When he finally set his eyes on me, he stopped dead on his tracks. I could see his eyes tearing, making me tear up as well as my smile broadened. My heart finally slowed down when we were separated just by a few steps.

"I told you he would cry... wuss..."

"Dad..."

My dad chuckled before placing a soft kiss on my forehead. Nick came by my side and hugged me tightly, as if it would be the last time he would ever see me. Nathan's looked at me, gaping, as he passed me the bouquet mechanically.

"Hi," I whispered.

"Wow," he replied.

"Still wanna do this?"
