CHAPTER TWENTY- FIVE

I smile victoriously at him as he takes my hand in his, guiding me towards the people he seems to be afraid of the most. In a table not too far from ours, a beautiful woman and an imposing man are seated.

"Father... Mom."

The woman stands as if she got electrocuted, grinning from ear to ear. Her chocolate eyes seem caring, her honey hair frames beautifully her porcelain skin and her full lips remind me of her sons'.

A step back, not as enthusiastically, the imposing man unfolds all his glory. His hazel eyes gleam familiarly. His tall figure stands in front of me as if nothing could make him bow.

"You must be Valeria," the woman pulls me in a hug.

Although I was startled by her reaction at first, I responded to her hug eagerly. I can feel the warmth radiating from her body, and I can't help but smile to the thought that this could be my mom's touch.

"Hi, it's nice to meet you Mrs. Colt..."

"Lydia, call me Lydia!"

Lydia twirls a loose strand of my hair on her index before placing carefully behind my ear. She's a mom... she radiates with the warmth of a mom, she's not pretending to the least... she can't.

Without even turning my head, I can see Nathan's smile spreading on his beautiful face. I lick my lips and try not to smile, but the corners of my mouth crook slightly upwards, revealing that I have noticed him.

"What's your plan Ms. Seretis?"

I frown, dumbfounded as I tear my gaze from Lydia to plant it on the man a step away from us. He holds his chin high as he belittles me, canceling a few minutes later my marriage with his son.

"Pardon me?"

Lydia rubs her arm uncomfortably as she moves aside, leaving me face to face with her husband. A mere second later, Nathan is standing by my side, sliding his arm around my waist.

"You heard me, Miss. What's your plan? Do you want money? Do you want fame? Why is it exactly you have decided to marry my son?"

"You better stop insulting my wife at this very moment, father."

Nathan points his index on the chest of his father, and as a reply, he brushes it off, smiling impishly. I feel an electric current running down my spine as I lock my eyes with the devil.

"I have no need for money, nor fame. The only need I have is to be loved and happy with your son and our kid."

"Oh! A baby! So you have tied him up well! You even got pregnant to trap this stupid man!"

"ENOUGH!"

A voice lashes the air like the thundering of a storm. I clench Nathan's arm, huddling close to him as he kisses the top of my head. Soon enough, Dante is standing between us and their father.

"Don't you dare insult her again!"

"Dante... my boy, I thought you were more clever than this!"

"She's nothing like what you are implying of her to be!" Dante grunts as he moves threateningly towards him.

"She's an angel," Nathan replies curtly, "is this the reason why you're afraid of her? Lucifer?"

"How dare you insulting your own father like that?!"
