CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE
"I can't believe you did all of this..." I whispered as I kissed him softly.
"You have clearly no idea how crazy in love I'm with you, angel..."
I couldn't help it but smile as I felt his lips against mine once again while his fingers tangled in my loose curls. His hand nestled on the small of my back as he pulled me closer to him, deepening his kiss.
He guided me towards the table my dad and brother were sitting, his eyes never leaving mine. My dad with eyes full of tears stood up and hugged me so tightly that I forced a gasp out of me.
He cupped my face into his palms, directing my gaze towards his. His steel blue eyes felt like a stormy sky that had started to get attacked by some warm rays of sunlight. He placed a soft kiss on my forehead, forcing a sigh out of me.
"Dad..." I whispered, trying to hold my emotions in line.
"I'm going to be a grandpa?"
It was one of the very few times that I had ever seen him losing his composure, his voice cracking with emotion. I nodded and exhaled while tears finally escaped me once again.
"I really don't know why I've even put make up on today," I chuckled as I wiped my face with the back of my hand.
"You never needed it anyway," Nathan muttered next to us, attracting the attention of the three of us.
He widened his eyes uncomfortably as my dad raised his eyebrow, and Nick pinched his lower lip with his fingers, stifling a laugh. I pursed my lips together trying to hold back my self again as I saw him getting bright red.
"Your fiancé is right," my dad said in a hoarse voice as he took my hand in his. "Come here young man," he resumed.
Nathan looked at me desperately as I looked at him. He moved towards us sheepishly, suddenly getting his self a tad smaller, shorter, under my dad's authoritarian gaze.
But at last... My dad took Nathan's hand is his, opening his palm as he carefully placed mine inside it. My smile grew bigger as I saw Nathan's body finally relaxing, as if he had just calmed down a bull.
"Take care of her," dad demanded.
"Or you'll hunt me down, I know," Nathan nodded as he lowered his gaze.
"No need to," my dad chuckled as he moved back to his seat, taking a sip of wine, "she's much scarier than I am."
Nathan turned his desperate eyes towards me and I shrugged, playfully cocking my eyebrow. He cleared his throat uncomfortably and pulled a chair for me to sit in after placing a soft kiss on my lips. My cheeks turned bright red under the gaze of my loving family.
"So Nick..." I turned towards my startled brother, swirling a glass of wine in my hand. "You knew about all of this?"
"Baby girl, I would have killed him with my bare hands if he didn't ask for dad's blessing."
"When did this even happen?" I murmured under my breath, taking a swig of wine.
Nathan placed his hand on my knee, spreading shivers throughout my body as I turned my attention back at him. He licked the corner of his lips with a soft smile on his face, captivating me instantly.
"I tracked them down over a month ago as an attempt to find you... believing that you were back there. Your brother threatened me when he found out what happened."
