[9] An old 'acquaintance'

Yuka's pov

It's been a while since I started school at Domino High, and it's safe to say that I've successfully managed not to scare the gang away!

'Are those your standards, just how low are they?'

'Shut up, ugly gecko.'

As I was saying before I got rudely interrupted, I have some new friends! But no one mentioned the name Aknamkanon, not that I was expecting them to, I believe that they're still in shock that I know that name.

Whenever I went to the game shop I would talk with Grampa, discussing different parts of history. We would be there for ages, getting so lost in our discussion that usually Yami or Yugi would have to tell us that it was getting late, much to their amusement. Talking to Grampa ignited my lost dream of being an archaeologist, which sadly would not happen.

Tea would hang out with me for some girl time. We would escape the guys to just do our own things. She took me to all kinds of places, cute shops, cute cafes and places to find nice ornaments and decorations. We always had such a blast.

I did end up finally meeting Joey's sister Serenity, and she was such an angel. She and Joey have such a cute sibling relationship, we would hang out and either watch movies or play video games. Joey's taste in movies was surprisingly really good and when I pointed this out he was offended I thought otherwise.

But hanging out with them made me miss my brother, even if he did annoy me sometimes.

A surprising thing was hanging out with Tristan. I later found out that he was a really good marksman so we would go to a shooting ring to have competitions to see who was the best. We had many discussions about different types of guns and our preferences.

With me and Yugi, we would usually talk about everything and anything. From duel monsters and cards to food and games. There was always something to talk about with Yugi, which was nice because if I needed any advice I would go to him and he would come to me if he needed any advice.

But out of the whole gang I was closest to Yami. It seemed so natural, almost like a force was pulling us together. We would always talk about ancient Egypt, happy that we could talk to someone our age about a topic that interested us.

We even write notes to each other in class in hieroglyphics in case someone else sees them (teachers) so they won't know what it says and when Joey sees them he tries so hard to understand them. We laugh at the ludicrous things he comes out with.

Most people at school found it funny that Yami and I got along so well seeing as many saw us as opposites. I was more outgoing and fun while Yami was more serious and blunt. That's everyone except for our friends, they seemed to know that we would get along well.

But Yami is just a nice person to be around. He might not show his emotions to everyone but in front of me, he did, it was like he couldn't stop the emotions from appearing.

We would hang out together, he would show me his favourite places and I would tell him mine. There was just something about Yami that seemed to always draw me to him.

But one thing that made me want to laugh and tell them more about me was Yugi's comments on a mysterious dueller (me) who was able to make an 'action field' appear and that they could do some summoning (pendulum and Xyz) that he had never heard of before.

He and the rest would talk about how the duel made everyone happy and they were surprised that someone could do that with a duel and wanted to meet them or at least see another one of their duels again.
