[15] Yuka at work

I decided to add a chapter about Yuka's work. After all, it was part of the reason for why she went to Domino City.

Yuka's pov

Walking into Leo Corp's second branch I was greeted by all the staff. My suit was form-fitted and I had my suit jacket in a gravity-defying way, it really made me feel like a CEO. Flashing my ID I went through the strict security measures.

'I hate these security measures, they take so long.'

'Didn't you come up with the security measure?'

'Doesn't mean I have to like them. Declan was the one who wanted them and I just had to make them.'

The reason why I was at the Leo Corps was because managing this branch was part of the reason why I was sent to Domino City instead of someone else.

We weren't sure if there would be any aftereffects because of the dimensional war. But Domino City was showing high signs of something big occurring here, so one of the lancers needed to be sent here to observe the situation.

If any problems happened, one of the lancers would have to deal with it as best as they could before the rest of us could come. This is because we had the most knowledge on how to fight and not get captured. We were the best duellist after all. That narrowed down the candidates who could come.

Then some of the lancers were still in school and wouldn't be able to transfer. That left only a few people who could come. Declan was out of the picture because he needed to deal with Leo Corp's main HQ as there were a lot of people who decided to use the dimensional war to do what they wanted in the company.

This led to why I was here, seeing as how I was a lancer, could easily transfer schools, and was a high-level member of the Leo Corps, I was the perfect candidate. I have experience working in the company and a good reputation so it would be easier for me to manage the branch.

After all, it wasn't the first time Declan was leaving me to handle a company. Usually, Declan would come to the second branch and I would handle HQ. But the problem in HQ was more serious than usual so I was sent here instead.

So most of my time has been used to clean up the second branch and get rid of the parasites. Declan had already fired the previous head of the second branch because he had been using the company's funds for illegal means.

That had really caused Declan to lose it. It was a huge scandal that made the top headlines in all news.

But there were still pests who were embezzling public funds, those who were creating fractions, those who were trying to dictate the company and so on. It was a headache dealing with all these troublesome people.

And it was now my job to deal with this. The only good thing was that Declan was finding a new manager so they could handle the second branch. He did offer me the job if I wanted it, but it was so much trouble and work that I didn't want to.

I earned as much as a manager did as a chief inventor, why would I want that extra headache? And as a chief inventor, I could make as many projects as I wanted. There were no restrictions.
