[29] Picnic!

Yuka's pov

A week has passed since the incident with Bakura. Things have thankfully gotten back into their usual routine.

The day after the run-in with Bakura, Ryou had come as soon as he could to see how we were and to apologise. I kept reassuring him that we didn't blame him, but that didn't work... Stupid Bakura.

But the best part was the next day after explaining everything to the gang.

After I realised how the gang might react to the lizard, I placed cameras which would start recording when it heard screams. This was because I wasn't going to wake up even if it was to see Yami screaming. I love my sleep too much for that.

If you couldn't tell, I have a messed up sleep schedule so any sleep I get I cherish.

Back to the other matter, the camera had gotten the whole thing on video. As predicted, Joey and Tristan screamed high-pitched alongside Tea. Even Yugi and Yami screamed too. In retaliation the dragon who was scared awake, roared at them, thus silencing them.

Then they all stood still just staring at each other, no one moving. It was honestly funny watching them just stand there.

'Ya real?!'

'Of course, I'm real, you fool! How dare you wake this one at such an unholy hour! Don't you know that this one requires an adequate amount of sleep so that I can retain one's power? If I don't get enough sleep I won't be able to use my powers properly!'

The gang looked guilty that they had messed with the snake, unaware that he was lying. But I was fast asleep when this happened and was making no moves to see what happened.

'We apologise, oh great mighty golden dragon. Please forgive us for being so careless.' Yami took the initiative to apologise, and when the others noticed they followed suit.

When I saw this on video, it wasn't an exaggeration to say that I choked on my water, I was that shocked. I couldn't believe that the snake had managed to get the gang to treat him like royalty.

At this rate, for all I know, they'll start to treat him like a Roman emperor, letting him lounge on the finest sofa, hand-feeding him premium grapes, using an expensive fan to fan him and having a famous storyteller recite their works...

Actually, I wouldn't put it past the snake to not demand this type of treatment. Damn reptile.

As I continued to watch the video, the worse it became. I had no idea this was what the lizard had done. He started to treat them all like they were his servants and they went along with it! Literally, they made him food, fed him and gave him a massage! I didn't know if I should shout at the snake or laugh... so I laughed and then went to scold the snake.

I had no clue this had happened because no one had mentioned this when I had woken up, all of them acting like normal.

When I confronted the lizard, he wasn't at all apologetic, stating that if this was ancient Egypt, he would have been treated even better. That's when I crashed his dreams reminding him that this was modern times and that no one was obliged to wait on him hand and foot.

I hadn't told the gang that I knew what they had done but I had explained to them that they didn't have to do that again, and they could relax around the lizard.

That seemed to ease their minds but it took some time for them to get comfortable. I guess their experience with Egyptian things scared them, not that I blame them. Bakura and Marik are plenty scaring.
