"Well, that was pointless." Duke mumbles as we walk down Melrose Avenue. My black heels click along the sidewalk as I keep my eyes down to my short navy skirt and business blazer.
"Not necessarily, the bank needs to know that we're on their side. I'm glad we talked to a few workers." I shrug as I lift my head to look at him.
"They don't know shit." He rolls his eyes as we wait at a crosswalk. "The only information we got was that one of them holds a single-action revolver, which we already fucking knew." He throws his hands up in defeat.
"That's so weird." I shake my head with a small laugh. "Why would the guy with the turtleneck have a weapon but not the others? They're horrible criminals."
"I've learned that they don't want to hurt anybody, they must be poor bastards if they're only doing it for the money." Duke runs a hand through his hair.
"Pussies." I roll my eyes as we cross the street. "What's the point in that? Robbing all of these banks just to get extra money in their pockets?"
"They're smart, too smart." He mumbles while shaking his head. "I can't wait to watch them rot in a jail cell for the rest of their asshole lives."
"They won't get life. Unless they start killing people they will only face about ten to twenty years, maybe less." I correct him.
"I want to give them life just for driving me crazy these past two years." He groans while rolling his eyes.
"Did you look into Asher?" I raise an eyebrow as I look at his side profile next to me.
"We need a last name, but from what you told me he seems like a real prick."
"The way he was acting definitely made him suspicious." I shake my head with a sigh.
"It's weird that I don't know who he is. I don't think he ever came into the bar." Duke says as we continue to walk down the busy street.
"He's on my list of suspects." I mumble while looking down. "Grayson seems to have a deep hatred for him."
"Speaking of Grayson." Duke nods his head down the street.
My eyebrows furrow as I look in his direction. Grayson and his usual group of friends are sitting down in front of a small restaurant. They're eating sandwiches and engaging in fits of laughter.
"Go over there." Duke instructs.
"Are you serious?" My eyes widen as I quickly turn to stand in front of him. "I'm supposed to work at a bar, I have no need to be in business clothes!"
"Say it's for a photoshoot, since you're a model." He lets out a chuckle while rolling his eyes.
"Oh, shut up." I deeply sigh and hand him my briefcase.
"You did it to yourself." He continues to mock me with a laugh.
"I'm taking this stupid blazer off." I quickly remove the jacket from my body, throwing it on Duke's chest. He instantly catches it with a groan. I mess up my wavy hair, trying to make it look less professional. Leaving me in a white blouse, navy skirt and black heels, I still look too formal.
"Unbutton this." He quickly raises his hands to pop open the top button on my blouse. "Let him know you like to let loose and have fun."
"Have I ever told you that I find you really annoying?" I groan and shoot his hand away.
"Nope." He steps back and smirks.
"Well, I find you really annoying." I roll my eyes and let out a sigh.
