My finger presses into the doorbell, causing a loud sound to ring through the house. I take a step back to give myself a minute to breathe. My eyes glance down to the casual white dress that is taking over my body. Beige heels are placed on my feet, making me an inch taller. I left my hair down and wavy, my go-to look. I know we are only going to be at his house, but I wanted to have a nice appearance.
The door suddenly swings open to reveal Grayson. He's wearing a black t-shirt and denim jeans. His hair is pushed up, which is extremely sexy.
"Wow, you look beautiful." He whispers as he eyes my outfit.
"Thank you." I blush while keeping my stare on him.
"Please, come in." He steps to the side and extends his hand out. "I hope you're hungry because dinner is ready." A light hearted laugh leaves his lips.
My heels step into his quiet and comfortable house. The smell of freshly made food fills my nostrils as my head turns to the kitchen. "I'm starving." I smile and look back at him.
He grins and leads me over to the table. My eyes widen at the sight in front of me. Two plates of chicken parmesan are perfectly placed next to a bowl of salad. A new bottle of red wine is sitting in the center along with two glasses. The lights are dimmed, and a candle is burning on the counter.
"This looks amazing." I smile at him.
"Have a seat." He extends a chair out and motions for me to sit.
I happily command and take a seat. My blue-grey eyes watch him sit down across from me. "You didn't have to do all of this."
"Of course I did, it's our first date." He smiles and picks up the bottle of wine. He pours half of it into one of the glasses and slides it over to me.
"This is a perfect first date." I mumble before taking a sip. The sweet taste of the alcohol runs through my body.
"I never really do anything romantic, I figured tonight would be the best time to do so." He says while pouring himself a glass.
"Well, cheers." I lift mine up in the air. "To our first date."
"And cheers to hopefully many more." His smile is in my view as we click our wine together.
I can't help but blush at how amazing this night is, and I've only been in this house for five minutes. The plate of food in front of me looks delicious, so I waste no time digging in. I pick up my fork and knife before cutting into the chicken. "The big reveal." I tease, which makes him laugh. I put the food in my mouth and begin to chew. My eyes widen at how good it is. "No way, you actually made this?"
"Yes, I told you I was a good cook." He laughs as he begins to eat.
"Shit, this is really good." I continue to eat more. "Why don't you work in a restaurant?"
"I don't really know, cooking was just a hobby for me." He shrugs while taking a sip from his wine.
"So, what do you do?" I curiously ask, eager to hear the answer.
"I work for a construction company, my father owns it. Ethan and I both decided to take over the family business since we didn't go to college." He explains while cutting into more of his chicken.
"Wow, that's really nice." I nod my head with a sweet smile. "Why didn't you want to go to college?"
"I was terrible in high school and so was my brother." He lets out a laugh, which brightens my mood. "I guess school was never for us."
"Yeah, a lot of people hate college." I nod in agreement.
"Did you go?" He raises an eyebrow.
"Yup, did the whole four years." I quickly explain, not wanting to talk about my criminal justice major. "Have you always lived in California?" I hope I don't seem pushy by changing the subject, I just want to avoid lying as much as possible.
