Chapter 18

Brennen: Okay then, it's settled, you, me, my place, tonight.

He then walled to his truck and left. Colby ran over and hugged you.

Colby: You don't have to do this.

You: We have to leave and this is the only way.

Colby: I wish I could do something to fix all of this.

You: I know.

*Later that night*

Colby took you back to your house and stayed with you until Brennen needed you. Colby drove you to Brennen's house. Colby came with you to the door and knocked on it.

Brennen: oh look who's here.

You couldn't stand to look at Brennen.

Brennen: oh Colby, I decided to do you a favor, I'm taking y/n on a walk, we both won't be home tonight.

You: That's not part of the deal.

Brennen: Do you want the money or not?

You: Ok fine. Just act like Colby.

Brennen grabs a backpack nearby.

Brennen: Colby, your not part of the package, scram.

Colby: I love you y/n, see you soon.

You: love you Colby, see ya

You turn back to Brennen as Colby drives away.

You: What's the backpack for?

Brennen: Oh you'll see.

He locks the door and motions for you to follow him.

You: Your supposed to be Colby.

Brennen: Fine.

He snaps his fingers and changes into Colby.

Brennen: That better?

You didn't answer him.

You: Where are we going.

Brennen: Somewhere.... Exotic.

You: Oh god please no.

Brennen: At least give it a chance, also once we get there I expect you to carry out our deal.

You stare at the pavement next to the sidewalk your walking on. Soon, you cut into the forest, leaving the pavement behind.

Brennen: Do you wanna know how I changed into a shape shifter?

You: I guess

You said in a quiet voice.

Brennen: Well, I kind of maybe faked my own death to leave Kansas a long time ago.

You: Kansas?

Brennen: Yeah, did Colby not tell you that's where we grew up?

You: No.

Brennen: We had some good memories there. Anyway, I faked my death, and I moved to Australia, where I met my birth mom.

You: Is that why you go by Taylor not Brock?

Brennen: Yeah, and Brennen Brock doesn't really sound all that nice. Anyway, in Australia I met a friend named Billy. He was really nice.

You: Wait, wait, wait, you had friends?

Brennen: You know I am a very likeable person.

You: that's hard to believe looking at the circumstances.

Brennen: Well, yeah, I am a bit mean to my bro sometimes.

You: A bit?

Brennen: Fine. A lot. Back to the story. Billy and I played a ouija board one day. That night, something happened, I changed.

You: What happened to Billy?

Brennen: I told him. He got totally freaked out and he got me locked up and experimented on. I only escaped because I shifted into a guard and a new employee fell for it. Then I came here.

You: Well, you must understand how I feel. Betrayal around every corner, finally believing in someone and they turn their back on you. The only person who hasn't let me down is Colby.

Brennen: Well if it makes you feel any better, I had a girlfriend back in Australia that ended up being the one to conduct the painful experiments on me.

You: Really what was her name.

Brennen: Abby

You: Abby Castle?

Brennen: You know her?

You: She's my best friend, she's the only one who's knows about me besides you and Colby....... And she just got back from Australia.
