ENDS HAPPY AND FLUFFY I PROMISE
————————————————————————

People would probably expect Phil to be the emotional one, between him and Dan. Such a soft, kind soul he had. Surely he would be touched by sad movies and books more than Dan.

But they were wrong.

Dan was a man of refined taste. He enjoyed every part movies, from their soundtracks to their plot to the actors who played in them. Which is why more often than not, Dan would be silently crying, tears streaming down his face, while Phil merely had moist eyes.

And it didn't always have to be cliche love stories that would set him off. Sometimes it was animated kids movies. Once such movie, was Up. A beautiful movie made by Pixar about a boy and a dream. He wanted to find the unexplored Paradise Falls. His dream goes further into his life, until his wife also has the same dream. They save and save to fulfill their dream. But before they can, tragedy strikes, and his wife passes. But this will not bring the man down forever, and he finds a way to see paradise falls. For him, but mostly for his deceased wife.

A very emotional movie, with an incredible sound track. One of the famous songs of the movie was one that plays while the movie shows the man and his wife's life together. With the first jaunty notes enough to make anyone emotional. The piano kicks in and moves the listeners heart with the story of their lives. It shows their highs and lows, ending in a sadness after the wife has passed away.

Dan knew all of this to be true, which is why he generally tried to avoid watching the movie as he knew with the first note of that particular song he would be an emotional mess. But Phil begged and pleaded until, finally, Dan gave in.

Knowing what was inevitably going to happen what that particular part came on, Dan had a box of tissues in one hand and his husband's hand in the other. A warm blanket was thrown over them as they cuddled up on the couch.

It wasn't long until the fateful scene came on. With the first call of the trumpet, he sighed and he felt Phil giggle and squeeze his hand. See, the story itself was sad, but that wasn't the only reason it made Dan cry. While it was playing, he couldn't help but imagine him and Phil in that situation. Growing old together only to have one leave and the other have to carry on alone. What adventures would they want to go on together, but have it all ruined by death?

He couldn't help the river of tears coursing down his cheeks. Maybe it was even more than usual, as this was probably the first time they had watched it married. Dan could see it even clearer now from the man's perspective, now that he too was married and in love. To have a dream that you've had ever since childhood shared with the love of your life, but then that person being ripped away from your life.. Yep, Dan was definitely crying.

But the music hadn't even gotten to the sad part yet. That's what he knew he would have trouble with. And sure enough, at the first note of the sad piano, a whisper of a sob slips past his lips. I hope you're happy Phil Dan thinks bitterly as he can barely see the Tv through his tears.

Then the wife dies.

Unwilling a loud sob rises and flies into the room. Phil looks up into Dan's face where he's leaning on his shoulder. He gasps. "Dan! Oh my gosh are you okay? You've never cried this much before!" He reaches and grabs a tissue and wipes Dan's face, which wasn't very helpful since more tears immediately replaced it. "Okay that's enough," Phil says, pausing the movie. -right at the ending of the song with the final melancholy piano chords. The gray, lonely house sits with the door closed as the man carries a small piece of the funeral with him home; a balloon.

Dan's sobs crescendo as he clings onto Phil's shirt as he sobs. "It's so beautiful," he sobs. He loved and hated the song.

"Dan sweetheart," Phil says, running his hands through the youngers curly hair. "I didn't know it would make you cry this much, or I wouldn't have made you watch it."

"It's- it's a good cry," he cries into Phil's chest.

"Oh my goodness Dan," Phil mutters, reaching for another tissue to wipe Dan's eyes and face. "I think you're more emotional than a girl on her period."

Dan let out a chocked laugh, clinging to his husband as if he might fly away. Which, he might. Who knows, he could die right this instant while holding Dan.

They sit for awhile, Phil combing through Dan's hair and rubbing comforting circles onto his arm until Dan was calmed down.

"I hate that song but I love it," Dan says quietly, no longer sobbing but the occasional tear slipping out. "It makes me think of our life Phil."

"Yeah?" Phil says gently, looking down at what part of Dan's face he could see.

"Yeah. I mean, we're married and have dreams we want to accomplish. Adopt a child, go to Japan again, maybe even have one last tour."

"Mhm," Phil hums, letting Dan let out his run of thoughts.

"But it just makes me sad thinking of the possibility that we might not accomplish all we want to. That one of us will have to do it alone," Dan says quietly, feeling a blubber of tears well in his throat.

"Don't think about that Dan," Phil says, shifting so he can see Dan's full face. Dan looks to the side and sees Phil's loving face. "Because I'm here and I'm not going anywhere."

"How can you be sure," Dan questions, his voice a mere whisper.

Phil smiles despite the sad situations s wipes one of Dan's tears away. "I suppose I don't. So let's make every second count, yeah?"

Dan smiles faintly. Phil leans a bit more and connects their lips in a side kiss. His arms wrap around Dan's waist, and Dan's hand lays on top of his. Keeping their lips attached, Dan moves so he straddles Phil's legs and pushes him back onto the couch. But it didn't get any more heated. Dan simply laid on top of Phil as they kissed. Phil kissed Dan's neck but it wasn't lust filled. It was a gentle caress, featherlight and loving.

Once they separate, both men are breathless. Dan rolls to the side so he's tucked between Phil and the couch. He swings a leg over Phil and nuzzles into the crook of his neck.

"Love you," Dan mutters tiredly.

Phil smiles and moves his head to kiss Dan's forehead. "I love you more."

"I love you most."
