Fives POV
I look at a small square box I held in my hands. I almost died on Umbara, if I had Vetera would have never known that I want to spend the rest of our lives together. Even though I am a Trooper and she a Jedi, I still love her with all my heart. I decide to get everything ready so I can ask her the question. I need to make sure that everything will be perfect for Vetera, she deserves that much. After I finished getting everything ready, I decide to call Vetera and have her meet me at those coordinates.
Vetera's POV
I woke up from another Umbara nightmare, drawing my knees to my chest as I try to calm down. Each nightmare was different but also similar as well. I would see all the 501st, 212th, Obi-Wan, Cruiser, all the 125th and Krux laying dead in front of me. Then I would see Krell, laughing madly as he observes the carnage he wrought and I would break into a run at him. He would either cut me down or we would duel for a while before he has me pinned beneath his foot and he is about to run me through before I wake up.
"Blaster...Waxer....I am so sorry..." I whisper softly, missing two of the greatest friends I had ever known. If I had sensed Krell's trick against us sooner, they would still be alive, but I hadn't sensed it in time and they payed the price for it. I go to where I am keeping their helmets and run my fingers over each one. Blaster's helmet with his signature design, Waxer's with the image of our honorary sister Numa, Hardcase's helmet with the same designs as his tattoos and Echo's scorched helmet. I sigh sadly, missing our vode (brothers). How can the men forgive me for failing them so badly? I hear my commlink go off and I wipe any evidence of the tears I hadn't noticed I was shedding away, before checking to see who was calling and see it was Fives. I answer it.
"Fives, what is it?" I ask him.
"Vetera, I have something I need to ask you. Can you meet me at these coordinates?" he asks as he provides coordinates to the park we had our first date at.
"Of course Fives." I say as I nod.
"And please, dress your best." he says before he hangs up. Dress my best, huh? I look for my best dress and find it, it was silver and sim with diamonds sewn into the skirt, neckline and sleeve cuffs. I then pick out the matching shoes before taking a shower and getting dressed. I then did my hair up in a headdress that Padme gave me to use on my secret dates. I then put on a bit of make up and go out, before I lock the door to my home. I get on my speeder and head toward Fives' location.
At the Park
I arrive at the park to see Fives waiting for me in his armor and I park my speeder beside his, before getting off. Fives smiles at me and I smile back.
"You look beautiful, cyare." he says to me and I smile.
"And you look handsome as always, cyare." I reply as he offers me his arm and I accept his arm, before we begin walking down the path of the park. We come to the lake, it was lit by the evening lights and not far from the shore of the lake was a picnic blanket. Fives and I walk over to the picnic blanket, before we sat across from each other. He serves the meal and drinks, making me smile and he returns the smile. We eat the dinner he brought for this picnic he set up and finish the drinks, talking, telling stories and jokes, and laughing. After a while, Fives got up and got beside me, before he got on one knee.
"Vetera Shan, I have loved you ever since we first met, but I kept myself from asking an important question because I didn't want to be rejected or for the other Jedi to find out and expel you from the Order. But our experience on Umbara has opened my eyes and there is something very important I want to ask you. Vetera Shan, will you marry me?" he asks as he brings out a small box and opens it, revealing a silver ring, with a blue diamond surrounded by white diamonds in a flower pattern. I was shocked at first and surprised, before I smile so widely, it almost split my face in half.
"YES!!" I say as I tackle him in a hug and he hugs back, before kissing me and I return the kiss as he slips my new ring on. We discuss plans for the wedding and I suggest Naboo, we decide to invite Krux, Anakin and Padme to the wedding. It would be secret, small and simple. I promise to talk to Padme about getting us to Naboo and we share one last kiss before we head to our homes. Once I reach home, I get washed up and dress in the red sleep wear the men use on Kamino before I go to bed with a smile on my face.
The next morning
I got up and get dressed, before I call Padme.
"Ah, Vetera. Is something wrong?" Padme asks and I shake my head.
"No, big sis. Nothing is wrong, but I was wondering if you could do me a small favor." I say as I hold up my thumb and index finger a centimeter apart.
"What is it?" she asks and I show her my new ring.
"Fives proposed." I reply and she smiles.
"Vetera, I am so happy for you! And you two want to be married on Naboo?" she asks me and I nod.
"They'll never find out Fives and I will be married there, and they certainly didn't find out that you and big brother Anakin are married." I say.
"True. Don't worry, I'll get it all set up for you two. Who's going to be coming?" she asks me.
"Just you, Krux and Anakin." I reply and she nods.
"Don't worry Vetera, we'll take care of your big day." she says and I smile softly.
"Thank you, Padme." I say and she smiles back.
"You're welcome, Vetera." she replies before we hang up and I tell Krux next, trusting Padme to tell Anakin for me.
A few weeks later
Padme had a diplomatic mission too Naboo and requested Anakin, Krux, Fives and I escort her there. We had bags packed with extra clothes and other necessities. We get on the ship to take us to Naboo before we take our seats. I smile at Fives under my helmet and nod to him, he nods back. We sit quietly throughout the ride, getting our meals and often dozing off or meditating for the three of us who are Jedi. We soon arrive to Naboo and I smile at the city of Theed,
"The stories do not do Naboo justice." I say as we follow Padme to one of her country houses. We each choose our rooms for our stay here. She and I go out for wedding dress shopping. I try one on after the other but none of them seemed to be the right one. We soon find a simple but beautiful one with a long skirt, as white as the snow on Hoth, the sleeves ending in Vs on the back of my hands and exposing my upper back, while the veil covers my face. This was the one and we buy it, before we left to where the wedding is and we get ready. After I was in my new wedding dress and dolled up, Anakin was going to walk me to Fives and I take his arm, He walks me down to the altar and I smile lovingly at Fives, who returns the smile before I take my place at the altar. We were married the Naboo way and the Mandalorian way as well, before Fives and I kiss, I felt like my heart was bursting. I am the luckiest woman ever. Fives and I would stay here for our honeymoon until Padme finishes her business, we can't stay longer or both the corp. and the Order would get suspicious. If things were different, Anakin, Padme, Fives and I wouldn't need to hide our love and maybe we could have families of our own. If only....
A few weeks later
Padme had completed her business and we had to return to Corusant. We get our things packed and I kiss Fives, which he returns before we had to leave. We get on the ship headed for Corusant and both Fives and I sigh softly as I rest my helmeted head on his shoulder and he rests his helmeted head on mine. I truly wish things were different, I really do, but for now, until I can help change the rules and the Code, we have to hide our love and attachments for now. But I wish things were different and we didn't have to. I held Fives hand.
"I love you, cyare." I whisper to him softly.
"I love you too, cyar'ika." he whispers back as we rest our foreheads against each other. We soon arrive on Corusant and we each head back to our separate living quarters. Fives escorts me home and in the privacy I have, we kiss each other goodbye before he left to return to the 501st barracks. I sigh sadly as I watch him go before I head inside.
