Collision Course (continuation of Running with Gods)

Fury

You sit peacefully at the breakfast table with some toast and coffee going over your thoughts.
Steve enters the room,

"Hey (y/n) your up early" then he sees the tired look on your face.
"Still can't sleep huh?"

You shake your head taking a bite of your toast.

You and Steve are soon joined by Nat, Bruce and Corax. Tony walks through the door and takes a sip of your coffee.

"Hey!"

Just then Bucky bursts through the kitchen door topless, just wearing some sweat pants.
Tony looks at you, "Geez it was just a sip no need to set your mechanical guard dog on me"

You giggle "What's up babe?" you ask Bucky.

"You weren't there when i woke" he says striding over and hugging your head to his naked stomach.

You look up at him with your big innocent eyes,
"I'm sorry i couldn't sleep and I didn't want to disturb you"

He holds your chin and leans in for a kiss "So you decided to drink the bar dry?" he asks.

You stumble over our words "I, er"

Tony sees you struggling and walks over to the two of you,
"Yeah sorry big guy that was my fault, had a bottle of whiskey while i was working that we shared." he lies for you. Bucky didn't need to know that you were trying to pass out so you could sleep for once. Not the best method but Tony knew your intentions.

Just then Steve's phone rings, he picks up.

"Hello?"

"Okay"

"Yeah no problem"

"Bye"

Steve clasps his fold-able phone shut.

"Fury's on his way"

"What does he want?" Bruce asks.

"Apparently he wants to meet our newest member" Steve replies.

"It was only a matter of time that word got back to Fury" Tony says.

"What are the chances he knows about the stone?" you ask the group.

Nat was the first to answer "With the fight we had with Ronan, he'll know" She pauses "I'm just surprised he hasn't stopped by sooner".

"Well he's going to be here in 30 minutes i suggest you get both dressed" Steve says looking towards you and Bucky. "Everyone meet in the conference room"

You do as Steve says and head back up to your room with Bucky.

You grab a pair of black leggings and a long sleeve asymmetric top, finishing off the look with some black combat boots. Walking over to the bathroom you glance at Bucky who was pulling a black t shirt over his head.

"How can he make putting a t shirt on look so sexy?"  you think to yourself as you watch his muscles flex with every movement.

Looking at yourself on the bathroom mirror you see the effects of not getting a decent nights sleep. Your eyes were red and it looked like you were starting to get bags under them.

"Great" you sigh.

You wash your face with cold water to wake yourself up some more, apply some make up to hide your tired face and put your hair up into a messy ponytail.

Bucky walks in and wraps his arms around your waist, pressing his body to yours. You rest the back of your head on his chest, he looks at you through the mirror.

"Looking good" he says with a cheeky grin.

You give a half smile "Thanks"

"What's wrong?" he asks with a concerned look.

"Nothing" you smile "I'm just a bit tired, only getting a couple hours sleep each night is starting to take its toll" you admit.

Bucky spins you around with his arms never moving from your waist, you look up to that big handsome face of his.

"I know what its like to have nightmares every night, it seems like they'll never stop, that you will never get any sleep for fear of what your mind will show you." he begins in a low gruff voice. "But they will stop, i promise." he tightens his grip on you, turning it into a comforting hug.

You knew Bucky was right but that didn't stop you being anxious about the whole situation.

"Come on lets head down" he says leading the way.

Following Bucky to the conference room you ask him questions about Fury. Unfortunately Bucky didn't know much about him given that S.H.I.E.L.D had fallen shortly after his appearance.

Entering the room you see the rest of the gang and direct your question to Steve,

"If there is no S.H.I.E.L.D then why does Fury want to meet me?"

Just then Fury walks through the door with an assistant in toe. You turn around and look at him sheepishly.

"Even though there is no S.H.I.E.L.D, there are still a few of us that like to keep up to date with new recruits" he says answering your question.
"Lets get right into this. Would anyone like to tell me the series of events that lead to ANOTHER battle in downtown New York" he asks the group.

You wanted to answer him but you felt like it wasn't your place so you let Steve take the wheel.

"An alien race called the Kree arrived on Earth looking for an infinity stone. When Ronan arrived he already had the mind stone, which (y/n) retrieved from him"

"And where is he and his army now?" Fury asks.

"Asgard with Thor" Steve answers.

Fury gives a disapproving look.
"So let me get this straight. An alien race comes to Earth, destroying half of New York and y'all just, send him and his army back into space?"

Everyone shuffles uneasily, until Fury speaks again.

"So where's the mind stone now?"

Everyone glances over at you making your cheeks flush red, the neckline of your top was just and so covering the stone. Pulling at your top slightly you reveal it to Fury and his assistant.

Fury talks again with surprise and anger mixed in his voice.

"Aliens are coming to Earth looking for these and she's just wondering around with one on her chest?!"

"She is more than capable of keeping it safe" Steve argues with Fury. "She's the one who stopped Ronan and his army"

"And what about the one they came to Earth to find? Who knows about this other stone" Fury interrogates.

"We have no leads as of yet, but we are aiming to find it before anyone else, and only the people in this room" Bruce tries to convince Fury.

"Plus an alien army" Fury corrects.
