Collision Course (continuation of Running with Gods)

Agent Summers

"And how did you do that?" Fury asks now looking at you.

"I already have the ability to communicate to animals. The stone enhances my power and allows me to communicate telepathically with humans, and aliens apparently" you pause for a moment,as you didn't like the next part.
"And I'm also able to command animals, humans and aliens to do what i tell them" you fidget with the cuffs of your sleeves nervously.

"You can force people to do things against their will?" Fury asks raising an eyebrow.

You look at him anxiously with guilt on your face.
"Yes, but I'd never use that power unless absolutely necessary"

You look uneasy and take a step closer to Bucky who glances down at you and rubs your hand to comfort you.
Fury notices your and Bucky's exchange and furrows his brow. He didn't like what he was seeing.

"And how long has this..." Fury waves his hand pointing at you and Bucky. "...been going on?"

"Erm" you were taken back by his question. What would it care to him?

"Not long after they saved me from Hydra" you reply.

That was the last straw, the mere mention of Hydra had Fury crossing his arms and striding over to Tony.

"You have an ex Hydra assassin AND a now super powered enhanced that Hydra TOOK from you, who can communicate through thought, and force ANYONE to do as she says, under the same roof?" Fury grits his teeth.
"How do we know they arnt both conspiring to eliminate the Avengers? It would be a smart move, taken down from the inside" Fury finishes. "We've all seen it before."

"I would never do that" you tell him angry that he even insinuated you would hurt your friends.

"I think her actions show that she's on our side" Tony backs you up.

Fury studies the two of you for a moment. His assistant leans in and whispers something in his ear, causing him to nod in agreement.

"Look, i will be straight with you" Fury begins trying to calm himself.
"I have sources that tell me she's a major threat to humanity."

Steve looks at Fury "Aw come on Fury shes just a kid!"

"Doesn't matter, as long as she's in charge of that stone she is the most powerful person on this planet"

"Then I will forever be a threat to humanity" you pause "because I can't remove it without dying" you tell him.

"What?" Bucky says in a low whisper.

You look up at him.
"Tony and i found out last night after F.R.I.D.A.Y ran some tests" you admit.

Steve shakes his head and looks at the floor, emphatically.

Bucky pulls you in and kisses the top of your head to comfort you.

Fury continues "I need you to prove to me that your on our side, more importantly that your capable of controlling that thing and not a threat to the planet.
Agent Summers will stay here and report back to me while I'm away on other business"

Agent Summers looked a couple of years older than you, and a couple of inches taller with a slender figure.
Her long blonde hair was in a ponytail, if it had been loose it would probably fall past her shoulders.
Her eyes were green and complexion was fair. She wore the non combat S.H.I.E.L.D uniform.

"Wait" you begin.
"How will you know that I'm not manipulating Agent Summers when she reports back to you?"

"If I told you that id have to kill you" Fury answers, you couldn't tell if he was joking or not.

"You don't need to monitor her Fury, we can vouch for (y/n), she's not a threat" Natasha finally speaks.

"Romanoff you know i value your opinion over everyone else but this needs to happen" Fury tells her.

"Guys its alright" you speak up. "If this is what it takes to prove I'm not a global threat, I'll take it."

"Then that's settled then, i assume if you and Sergeant Barnes are together Agent Summers can move her thing's into your room?"

"Erm yeah i guess." you say hesitantly.

It was true that you and Bucky spent every night together since your return meaning there was a room free upstairs. But why yours? You were attached to that room, it was yours since the team found you and brought you back. But you shrugged it off not wanting to seem suspicious or argue with the person you were supposed to be proving yourself to, but deep down it hurt.

"Good" Fury says as he starts to leave the room.
"I will leave you and Agent Summers to get acquainted. Oh and she will join you on any future missions" he adds as he walks out the door.

You breathe a sigh of relief.
"That was intense" you whisper to Bucky.

"Hi everyone" Agent Summers begins to talk.
"I know we haven't exactly got off to a great start but..." she pauses looking for words to say, she seemed a little nervous, but that was understandable given the circumstances and the team she was just propelled into.

You walk up to her feeling sympathy for her, holding out your hand to shake hers you introduce yourself.

"Hi Agent Summers, I'm (y/n), but I'm guessing you already knew that." you smile.

Her face relaxes as she goes to shake your hand.

"Hi, I'm (first name) but Summers is fine. I don't care for my first name."

"Right well i better go clear my stuff out of my room" you tell everyone awkwardly.

You didn't have to look at anyone but you knew they felt bad for you. It was a situation out of their control.

"Let me give you a hand" Summers offers.

"That's okay, i will let you get acquainted with the rest of the team"
You half smile as you walk out the door and up to your room for the final time.
