Collision Course (continuation of Running with Gods)

Following Orders

Heading outside you find Corax, sitting on the grass next to him in the warm sun you try to gather your thoughts. You explain to Corax what had happened earlier in the hopes he would have some answers.

"Maybe your headache caused you to use your powers involuntary?" he theorized.

"Maybe" you think "But that still doesn't change the fact that she has a thing for Bucky" you exclaim.

"Listen dear, James loves you, he's asked you for your hand in marriage" Corax sympathises.

A small smile crosses your face when you think of marrying Bucky.

"What if he gets bored of me? Not to mention Summers is taller and better looking than i am" you say looking at the ground picking at the grass.

"It makes me sad that you think like that" you hear a voice behind you.

You didn't turn to look at him, you stayed focused on your task of picking grass.

"Talk to him dear, it's not healthy to keep your feelings bottled up, he will understand" Corax re assures you.
"I will stop by later to see how your doing"  and with that he flies into the air.

Bucky takes a seat next to you.

"What happened back there?" he asks curiously.

You take a deep heavy sigh "I heard Steve,....he was cheering for Summers to beat me"

Bucky looks confused "Are you sure, that doesn't sound like Steve? He often asks me how your trainings coming along now that we can spar together. Maybe you miss heard him?"

You stopped picking at the grass to look at the sky listening to Bucky as he rationalised things. He continues "That cant be the reason that you grabbed Summers?"

You shake your head "I could hear her thoughts without using my powers, i dont know how but the things she was saying about you....i don't know...i guess she made me jealous."

Bucky gives a slight chuckle at the thought of you being protective over him.

"You know you don't have to worry about things like that, your the one i want to be with, for the rest of my life" his words were so serious and genuine. Tony walks up to the both of you.

"Bruce has another lead on Hydra, wheels up in 10, Caps orders." As he turns to leave Bucky stands up and offers you his metal hand. Memories of that first night sitting on the grass with him looking at the stars flash through your mind. You give him a soft smile ad you take his hand.

"You sure your up for this?" he asks as you walk back to the facility.

"Yeah I will be fine, and anyways i need to fix things from our first mission"

When your both suited and geared up you meet the rest of the team on the jet. You see Summers talking to the rest of the group, Steve heads over to the two of you.

"What we got this time Steve?" Bucky asks his friend.

"Active Hydra base, a dozen or so associates...." Steve continues to fill you and Bucky in on the details, not realising you had zoned out.
You saw Summers glancing over at Bucky and Steve, you couldn't help yourself.

"Woah he looks so much hotter in his uniform"
You listen to Summers thoughts, a visible anger grows on your face, she must know you heard her thoughts before, now she must be doing it in purpose.

"(Y/N)!" Steve's voice breaks your thoughts.
"We need you focused on this one, we don't need a repeat of last time" his stern voice tells you before he heads back over to Summers and Natasha.

"Yeah, right, sorry" stumbles out of your mouth as he walks away.

You take a seat at the rear of the jet with Bucky. As the two of you start talking you hear Summers in the back of your mind again.

"Why is he even with her?"

Your patience was growing thin.

"Bet i could show him a real good time" she smirks

You'd had enough. Crashing your lips to Bucky's you stop him talking mid sentence, you kissed him like it was the last time you'd get the chance.

Side glancing at Summers you watch her expression change from cocky to pissed off.

"HA!" You think to yourself "He's mine"
Bucky looks at you for a moment "What was that for doll?" he asks unaware you did it to prove a point.

"Before every mission, remember" you smile at him.

"Guys were here" Tony calls from the front.

Steve stands at the head if the group as you all exit the jet.
"Now remember we need Intel and as many captured as possible. As this base is underground Tony your on the outside, feed us info on the floor layout and catch anyone who manages to get passed us. Bucky and Summers take the lead, head in and take down whoever you find. Nat and I will take the rear, we will branch off once we find any computer source to get the info we need. (Y/N) we don't need you to do much on this one, just keep a lookout on our six and stay out of trouble."

"Wait what?!" you exclaim. You had to think fast, even though you didn't want her to watch you it was your only chance at getting her away from Bucky.
"Shouldn't Summers be "baby sitting" me?" You ask Steve in the hopes he would change his strategy.

"Don't worry i can take point with Bucky and still keep an eye on you" she smirks.

You were about to explode "That motherf-in bitch" you thought to yourself.

"We don't have the time for this, i have the final say on the teams positions and I feel this is the best strategy given everyones skill sets." Steve's voice was firm an assertive.

Bucky takes his friend to the side while the rest of you exit the jet, they stand out of ear shot from the rest of the team. "(Y/N) and I have always worked together Steve...."

"Summers is more experienced and now she is better at hand to hand than (y/n) she's better fit to work with you on this particular mission"

Bucky goes back to argue but is cut off by his friend "Please Buck, trust me on this"
They both walk back to the rest of the team.
You looked at Bucky hoping he had managed to change Steve's mind but he shakes his head. Your heart sank to your feet.

"Let's move out" Steve orders.

You follow his orders and watch as Summers takes your stand point next to Bucky.
