Just Like Old Times

You sat on the sofa with wireless headphones on listening to your favorite podcast. Hearing their stories and jokes made you relax as you lay back and close your eyes. You drift off for some well needed sleep. It felt like only a few moments that you had closed your eyes when Natasha removed your headphones from your head and tapped your leg twice to wake you up.

"Come on, suit up we have a mission" she tells you urgently.

You squint your eyes at the sunlight and rub them for a better view.

Nat holds out her hand as you take it she hauls your tired body off the sofa.

"We have co ordinates to a Hydra base"

"Okay" you say tiredly still slightly confused as to what was going on.

You follow everyone out of the room down to the tech room where the rest of the team were gathered.

"So what we got here, F.R.I.D.A.Y?" Tony asks

"The police just got an anonymous tip from some kids saying they heard loud booming sounds and witnessed strips of intense light from a shipping crate on the south side docks"

"That definitely sounds like the kind of thing we should check out" Tony says to the group.

You look up at Steve who was across the table from you looking at the footage F.R.I.D.A.Y had on display for the team. Trying to signal by just looking at him that you thought this could be the other Infinity Stone. He catches your eye and nods his head at you. Unknown to you Agent Summers catches that interaction.

"So whats the plan Steve?" Bucky asks his best friend.

Steve thinks for a moment, "We need everyone in on this one, but were going in silent to catch them off guard. If they don't know we are coming we can detain their guards and leave quietly with whatever they have without putting any near by citizens at risk."

Steve turns to Tony "You may have to sit this one out"

"So when you said it needs everyone you lied?  You think i would put the team at risk with my "clunky" metal suit? Well Rogers you will be glad to know Ive upgraded my suit to have stealth mode" he says smugly.

You swore you saw Steve roll his eyes. "Okay then, Bruce you know the drill you man surveillance and coms with Agent Summers. The rest of you gear up in your black tactic suits we leave at night fall."

Agent Summers steps forward and clears her throat "I'm sorry Captain but its on Fury's order that you include me on these missions with (y/n)"

Steve takes a harsh breath in and folds his arms. "Whats your credentials?"

"Military background since i left school, graduated to Corporal and also served the United States Air Force for a few years. Fury saw potential and Ive worked close to him and S.H.I.E.L.D since." she says proudly.

"Fine, i assume you have your own gear?" Steve asks.

Summers nods her head.

"Right everyone meet at the quin-jet at sunset" Steve gave his final order.

Everyone leaves the room to gear up, Bucky was half way out the door when you turned to Tony who was still staring at the intel that F.R.I.D.A.Y had.

"I don't suppose you have a new suit for me?" you ask innocently "You know coz Loki took mine and i cant exactly wear my Asgardian suit on a stealth mission."

Tony looks up at you, "Yeah i had another suit made for you when you turned up in that ridiculous Thor outfit"

"HEY! I like that suit especially the cape"

"Its a good job i included it in your upgrade then" he smirks "Follow me"

You look at Bucky still waiting on you, "Go ahead and get ready i will meet you in the armory" you tell him.

You follow Tony down to his workshop, he opens a secret door next to one of his suits that had various different styles of everyone's  suits inside.

"I don't just upgrade my own you know, got to look after everyone else" he says handing you your new suit.

It looked similar to your old one which was all black in colour to begin with, but this had a black A logo on either shoulder much like Caps. It also had fabric that was doubled over to make a large baggy hood. 

"The hood doubles as a cape if you unhook it from the shoulders" Tony adds.

"I cant wait to try it on" you smile at Tony "Thank you so much".

You make your way to a secluded part of the room and quickly change. Tony had also handed you some new combat boots that came up to your knees that had protective shin plates on the front. Your arms now also had the same protective plates from wrist to elbow.
It felt good to be in your combat gear again, you walked into the middle of the room to show Tony who was already in his Iron Man suit, his good work.

"I take it you like it? Judging from the smile on your face. This is just your stealth suit you have another "ordinary suit". Oh and your stone is covered so that it wont be detectable of you were to use it. What can i say I'm a genius. " Iron Man states.

There was a blacked out piece of domed metal covering the stone.

"Good thinking, thanks again Tony. Now lets go get us another stone" you smile.

You head to the armory to find Bucky, Nat was there helping Agent Summers with some weaponry.

"Hey want to strap me up like old times" you smile at Bucky as you walk up next to him.

"Sure thing doll" he replies as he grabs you a leg holster and a gun, he handed you a couple of smoke bombs that you attached to your waist. Bucky was all ready kitted out with all of his favorite guns and knives. He looks at you lovingly but you could see worry in his eyes.

"You know the last time we went into a mission together..." he begins.

You stop him from speaking by placing your hand on his stubbly cheek.

"That's not going to happen again" you tell him.

"What happened last time?" Agent Summers interrupts breaking you and Bucky from your moment. You look at her uncomfortably not wanting to share your experience with a stranger. 

"A story for another time perhaps?" Nat tells her, seeing your expression. Nat ushers Summers out of the armory after they were done.

As the door clicks behind them you turn back to Bucky who takes you in his arms, crashing his lips down onto yours. It takes you by surprise but you soon ease into his kiss, his tongue caressing yours. Your breathing becomes fast as you feel your heart beat racing. Pulling away slowly and opening your eyes you look up at him.

"What was that for?" you smile out of breath.

"We never know whats going to happen on any mission we go on, and our track record isnt so good. So you better get use to me doing that before every one." he says in a low serious voice.

"I love you so much James"

"I love you too (y/n)"

"We better head up to the jet, it will be dark soon" he tells you.

"Sure, there's just one last thing i have to get, i will meet you up there"
