We did it! we actually got married. If someone had told me ten years ago that I would be married to the most perfect girl in the world I would have laughed in their face. and if it was a woman, I would have slept with her too.I smile as I effortlessly carry Lexie across the parking lot to my, our Red Ford mustang. I lean down and open the passenger side door and gently set Lexie in the seat. "Thank you sir" she says with a fake British accent
"I love you, but you could never pull off a British accent"
She laughs and rolls her eyes.
I smile and close her door, then walk around to the drivers side and open it. Once I'm inside the car and buckled up I turn it on and back out of the parking spot, heading home.
It's quiet for most of the ride, and when something exciting happens for Lexie she usually doesn't stop talking about it.
"What's on your mind?"
I ask
She pauses before answering "Nothing"
"I've heard that before. Come on, Lex, you can tell me. Im your husband remember?"
She smiles "Yeah I remember"
"So come on what's up?" I glance at her
She sighs "I was..just thinking about kids"
"Kids? like in a creepy way?"
She laughs "No not in a creepy way. Just, I want to have kids"
I smile "Well me too"
"Yeah. but you already have kids, Sloan, Sofia-"
"Lexie" I grab her hand. "I want to have kids with you, not with anyone else, your my wife and your the most important person in my life. Not Callie, or anyone else. you" i look at her and see her trying unsuccessfully not to smile.
"Okay?"
"Okay"
We drive in silence for a couple more minutes before she speaks up "I love you, know that?"
I nod "I know" she smiles and I smile back.
We get home later and run into Callie on the way out
"Hey! where were you guys?"
"City hall" Lexie says smiling
"Why were you-" her face brightens up "Did you guys-no way congrats guys!" she beams
"Thanks, Callie" I smile
"No way that's great!" Callie looks from me to Lexie and then says "I wish I could stay but there's a big trauma coming in and I have to go" she starts walking past
"A big trauma? should I go too?" I ask quickly
Callie stops and looks back at Lexie then at me and shakes her head quickly "Uh no, no you stay here with your wife. You'll be paged if we really need you, but Avery should be able to handle it-"
"Avery? he's a kid-"
"Mark. stay here."
I sigh as she quickly walks out, heading to the hospital. I look at Lexie. I can't read her face very well but I think she understands that's my job. It's her job too. "Come on" I put my hand on her lower back and walk up to our apartment. I take out my key and slide it into the lock and turn it, I twist the handle and push the door open.
"I'm gonna change" Lexie says as she walks into our room. She sounds a little upset, I'll give her some space. She closes the door and I sigh. I'll make her something to eat, that'll make her feel better.
I knock on the door ten minutes later with a plate that has a peanut butter and Nutella sandwich on it. "Lexie? I made you a sandwich. it's your favorite! peanut butter and Nutella! it has chocolate in it" I knock again "Lexie?" that's weird. she usually at least replies to me. I open the door and peak my head in. "Lexie?" I don't see her. I open it wider and step in, Shes probably in the bathroom. oh well. I'll just put it on her nightstand and when she comes out she'll see it. I walk over to the other side of the bed and I hear the plate shattering on the ground, Right next to Lexie.
