Chapter 9
Andrew's POV
"Yeah, sure. Make yourself at home." She opens the door completely and smiles with me. I walk past her into her short narrow corridor. I hear the door click shut followed by the lock.
"Who's at the door Elly?" I hear Fay. I look at her wide eyed.
"It's okay, she likes you." She grabs my hand and leads me into the living room. When we walk in I see Fay shuffling through a stack of DVD's.
"Look who just joined our sleep over." Fay quickly looks up stunned to see me. She clearly wasn't expecting me. I try to smile and she seems to shake off the look on her face.
"Andrew, right?" She lifts her fingers to her lips and narrows her eyes.
"Yeah." I smile then look over at Elizabeth.
"Knew it, I'm never wrong." She arches her eyebrows and grins proudly. "Anyways, you're just in time. We were just picking out a movie." She picks up two and shows them to us. "Clueless, or Remember Me?" They both look at me. I stand silently unsure of what to do. "This is the part where you choose." Fay says while motioning with her hand for me to speak. Elizabeth whispers and hints to Clueless.
"Clueless?" I say doubtful.
"Yes! He's a keeper." Fay winks to Elizabeth. We all sit in around the couch and play the movie.
Elizabeth POV
I sat next to Andrew while we spent most of the movie with my arms around his body and my head on his chest.
"Do you mind if we go to bed now?" he whispers softly into my ear. I shake my head and make our way into my room. Fay fell asleep on the sofa half way through the movie, so we let her sleep. I walk in front of Andrew and I head straight to my bed.
"Care if take a quick shower? I don't think I smell the best." He chuckles. "Go ahead, and by the way, you smell like brewed coffee and cologne; and to be honest I like it.
I watched him disappear behind the bathroom door and I laid in my bed thinking thinking if he was alright. The time around two days ago was when I had my break down. He held me so much and that's something that I'll never forget.
...
I almost fall into a deep sleep when I feel large hands creep under the blanket and pull me into a warm embrace. I look over my shoulder to see Andrew and his wet hair.
I smile. "You should dry your hair before sleeping it's bad for you especially in this weather." He lowers his eyes looking at me and strokes my cheek. "There's a few bad things around me, wet hair is the least of my troubles." He smiles. I turn around and face him.
"What's bothering you?"
"It's nothing." He smiles. "Nothing important."
"If it's bothering you, it must be important." I run my hand through his hair. He doesn't say anything. I want to help him, but I don't want to push it either. I know how hard it is to cope with mixed emotions. "I'm here Andrew." I grab his hand under that blanket. He let's out a deep sigh.
"It's my family. I feel like things are being thrown at me and I can't move so I won't be hit." He tightens our grip and swallows. "My father wants to come back into my life and I don't know if I want that."
"He's your dad, why don't you want him in your life?"
"He um, he hasn't always been in my life. I barley remember him, only by photographs and blurry memories. He left me and my mother when I was five. No calls, no visits, no birthday cards, nothing." I can see his confliction when talking about the his dad so I don't ask questions.
"My Uncle who is suppose to trust and care for me is lying and I don't even know why. I tried confronting him about it but it was useless, that's why I came over. I wanted to get away from him." He shifts and turns to his back. He doesn't let go of my hand so I comply and adjust to his positon with my arms over his abdomen and my head on his chest.
He's silent and all I hear is his heart beat.
"Then there's my mom." He says slowly.
"What about her?" I say tracing circles around his naked chest.
"She's gone." He says so low that I can barely make out what he said. I don't know if it was meant for me to hear but I couldn't help but hug him.
Andrew's POV
After staying at Elizabeth's,I woke up early and left at 8 to drive back home. It was unexpected how I showed up at her house, but she welcomed me without hesitation which was something I really appreciated. We fell asleep with her in my arms, something I enjoyed deeply.
When I'm around Elizabeth, everything that's happening around me goes away. Questioning my Uncle last night didn't turn out exactly how I expected. I know that the way I left the house was wrong, but I couldn't stay there.
I placed my keys on the kitchen counter top and grabbed a glass cup. I walked over to the fridge to pour myself some cold water. When I closed the door, I turned around Fo see my Aunt standing in the kitchens doorway and my glass clatters on the floor.
"Fuck." Is all I say.
"Stop cursing in my house. You know I don't like it." She says picking up a broom.
"I'll do it." I say taking it away from her.
I kneel down to pick up the biggest pieces and threw them away.
"Where were you last night? You left and didn't call or tell anyone where you were." I finish sweeping and put the broom in the closet to my left then faced her. "I was worried sick Andrew." She scolds me.
"I know, I know. I'm sorry. I stayed over at Elizabeth's." I look into her eyes and I can tell that she was genuinely worried.
"Who's Elizabeth?" She blinks rapidly.
"She's a friend, it doesn't matter. I'm going to sleep for awhile. It's 8:38 I'll be up by 12." I kiss her forehead as I walk pass her and head to the basement.
Katy's POV
I sit in the dinning room alone with my head down when the house phone rings. I sigh then slowly get up.
"Hello?"
"Katy, did you tell him?" A strong male voice responds.
"Marcus, This isn't the best time. Not now." I rub my head feeling a headache coming soon.
"You have to tell him, my flight lands tomorrow at 9." He abruptly hung up.
