Chapter 4

Lilith's POV

"Look there's a boat" 
I whispered to one of the dwarfs nearby me

"I don't like the look of him"
one of the dwarves said

"you don't need to we just need to get a ride on that boat" I replied

Another dwarf went over towards the attractive man

"nice boat , is it for sale"

I mentally face palmed as this boat was probably the only thing the man owned that was worth something

"no it's not"
the man bluntly replied

"well can u give us a ride"

"no"
I rolled my eyes at this guy

"can u give us a ride for 50?"

The man looked like he was in deep thought , then replied

"no"
I then intervened

"well then can you do it for 75 I'm sure that's more than you earn a year"

The man then glared at me but nodded I take it 75 sounded good to him . I began feeling guilty for saying that to him , as I have no idea what he's been through . I sat aloneish then Bilbo came to sit by me  .

"hello Bilbo , how are you?"

"Good I think"

I smiled at him , Bilbo then continued

"I think you need to apologise to Bard Lilith" ,

"Bard?"

I then looked at the fisherman who was looking right back at me, Bilbo then said

"he's name is Bard"

"oh, I didn't mean it I was just annoyed, I will do that apology now though"

I walked over towards Bard I opened my mouth to start talking but he cut me off

"what do you want?"

He said his tone sounding annoyed

"look I'm sorry I said what I said I was just annoyed and I say stuff I regret when I'm annoyed"

"it's alright"
he said with not much emotion

Then I walked away not sure whether he accepted my apology or not . One of the dwarves Balin then said

"I bet you have a beautiful wife and children waiting at home for you"
Bard then said

"she was beautiful" 

Everyone stopped talking realising his ex wife or girl friend was dead .

"I'm sorry for your loss"
i said

"thankyou and I have 3 children"
he then changed the subject

"we are approaching lake town get back into the barrels"
the dwarves did so

"Bard I don't fit in the barrels , I'm not a dwarf or a hobbit"

"I've noticed, just keep a low profile and hope Alfred dosnt see us"
I nodded .

Bard put raw fish on the dwarves so that they wouldn't get seen by anyone ,we then entered into lake town and a guy who I presume was patrolling who entered and left lake town said

"hello Bard you can go through"

The man nodded at me to which I returned .
Then this other extremely ugly guy which only had one eyebrow came into view

"Alfred" Bard said

"Bard you are just a barge man not a fisherman you have no right to have fish in those barrels they should be empty and who's that girl she's not meant to be on board either"

Bard seemed to think of something to say quickly

"she's my girlfriend"

Wait what ? why did Bard say that he could've said friend or something . I couldn't lie though I felt a tingly feeling in my stomach when he said that but I shrugged it off .

Alfred grunted then said to some men surrounding him

"unload the barrels"

They began to tip the barrels of the edge . I looked at Bard wide eyed .

"wait Alfred is it? They are to feed the people of lake town they must be starving"

Bard seemed to catch onto my plan then continued

"and what will you do when the people are starving and food has been wasted and they are all begging for more food"

Alfred seemed to take this into consideration

"STOP"
He shouted at the men then turned to Bard and said "

"I'm onto you and your pretty girl , I know where you live"

I cringed at what Alfred said

"it's a small town Alfred everyone knows where everyone lives" 

Alfred frowned then walked off

"i don't like him"
I said to no one in particalar 

"I don't think anyone does"
Bard muttered .
