"Hello, sir," the woman at the front desk greeted with a somber smile, "I heard of your situation— your loss."

"Oh," was all the male replied, squeezing his son's hand tighter when the boy clutched his stronger.

"Would you like me to call up Dr. Takeyama for you?" the receptionist wondered aloud, "she was the one who requested that you visit. She rarely does this."

"That's... something..." the man murmured in response, " this may have been a mistake. I think I'm going to go home."

"No, no! Nonsense!" a tall woman with platinum blond hair stepped into the room from a back door, "please do stay, sir."

"..." the man froze, his son looking between the adults curiously, "may I ask why I was called here?"

"Of course," the platinum blond smiled softly, "I called so we could discuss gaining custody over your child."

The man looked the woman in the eyes, "are you Dr. Takeyama?"

"Yes, now let's get a move on!" the doctor smiled and lead him into the back, a mischievous look crossing her eyes when the two broke visual contact.

The two walked down a corridor toward two large, dark, heavy looking doors. The man and his son followed the woman as the doors were opened for them from the inside. The man gave the doctor a questioning look. He had only come here to discuss some things and leave, not to follow this woman to the strange back of a building. He could only wonder if this was a normal occurrence.

"Welcome to my office," Dr. Takeyama stated cheerfully, "please, take a seat."

"Okay..." the man replied, "son, here, go play in the corner on my phone."

His young child did as told and ignored their conversation, not quite hearing or understanding the contents of the words. He had no idea how potentially dangerous this conversation would ultimately be.

"I'll get right to the point, sir," the doctor said, "I want you to give me the parental rights over your son, as well as agree to let me do as I please with him for the first few years of his life."

"Excuse me?" the man sounded beyond offended, as if the woman had no right to ask such a terrible question in his current state of grief over his broken family.

"I want parental rights over your son," Dr. Takeyama repeated, "as well as for you to agree to let me do as I please with him for the first few years of his life."

"What makes you think I would allow either of those things?" the man sounded taken aback, "that's a terrible thing to ask right now! What do you mean, you'd like me to give you parental rights over my child? I don't even have those!"

"Please calm down, sir," the doctor said calmly.

"Huh?" the man sounded angry.

"Let me clarify, you won't be signing the contract letting me take care of your son?" the doctor asked innocently.

"Of course I won't," he practically growled.

The man couldn't believe how easily the mood had changed in the room. This doctor had to be sick or something to think that a grieving parent would simply hand over their child. Any parent, really, would be insane to agree to something like this. There was definitely something up with Dr. Takeyama. Perhaps she had a few screws loose, wasn't totally right in the head, or who knows..? Maybe she was just crazy.

Dr. Takeyama paused to think for a moment. She really wanted rights over this kid, even if just for a while. There was so much she could do with such a powerful specimen. She wondered how she could manage to get around the man's stubbornness. She couldn't just let the kid slip between her fingertips! He was way to valuable for her... cause.

He was young and impressionable, which made it even easier to manipulate him. Best case scenario, he'd just go with it. Worst case, she'd have to do things the hard way—by force. That would be such a shame, though, she decided. Having to waste her materials on a small child would take away from what she could do for others. Dr. Takeyama suddenly got an idea, one that would really only work if this man was as blinded by rage as she thought.

"Okay then, sir," the doctor said solemnly, "if you won't do that, then at least sign this."

He watched as she took out a sheet of paper from a file with a lot of small writing on it. He wondered what she could possibly want him to sign now.

"What is it?" he questioned impatiently, at that point wanting nothing more than to leave.

"A restraining order," the doctor told him, "all it states is that we can't within a mile of each other. It's long, I know, but the government doesn't take short, simple stuff seriously."

"I'm okay with that," the man responded, taking a pen out of his shirt pocket and signing the document. He didn't bother to read the contents beforehand. He just did it and left.

The doctor didn't bother to escort him out. She just took a seat at her office chair, admiring her effortless work, her effortless win. It was such an easy victory over the man that she almost felt guilty. Almost. It was far to easy to take advantage of people having a hard time, especially those trying to get through a loss, custody battle, and take care of a child all at the same time. But hey, that was all the more reason for her to take something off his hands, right? If anything, she was doing him a real favor by tricking him into signing the custody form.

She'd lied, simple and upfront. He didn't read the document, just signed and left, so it was his fault. That was something she thought they taught people. Everyone should know better than to make a silly mistake like that; he should know to read something before signing it.

"Good," Dr. Takeyama smiled, "now I can proceed as I see fit. This should be interesting..."

(Hey everyone! So... I lied. I don't think this is going to be the last arc. It's just, I'm going to miss this story so much when it ends, so I want to keep it going as long as I can! It also occurred to me that there were a lot of events that happen in this book in my head, but I'd only given tiny hints to them here and there. They seemed like misplaced, random things that I'd disregarded... Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed!)
