We both looked at the drag marks and saw that they went straight. Claire walked out.
"Brooklyn can you stay here with Claire?" I asked.
"Yeah ok" Brooklyn said sitting down with Claire.
"I'll be back" I said.
"Stay safe" Brooklyn said.
I followed the trail walking past the rows of caravans. The marks started to get more noticeable. I kept walking until the marks turned off into a caravan. I walked up to the caravan door and knocked on it. Nobody answered. But I could hear moving around inside. I tried looking through the windows but the curtains were down. I looked around to make sure nobody was watching. I then stepped back and then ran into the door making it smash open. The noise stopped.
"Hello!" I yelled.
I started to hear faint shrieks. I walked down the caravan to the last room. I opened the door to the room and saw a woman tied up with a piece of duct tape around her mouth.
"Shit" I said.
I got down and untied the robes around her hands and feet. I then took off the duct tape around her mouth. She looked up at me.
"Thank you" She said standing up.
"What's your name?" I asked.
"Jemma Worth. What's yours?" She said.
"My name is Sam. I think I need to get you to the infirmary" I said.
"No. He or she I don't know has my daughter" Jemma said.
"We have her. She's fine" I said.
"Thank god" Jemma said hugging me.
I helped her up and took her to the infirmary.
"Did you get a glimpse at who ever did this" I said.
"No. I only saw a black cloak with a hoodie over their head. I couldn't even see his fingers" Jemma said.
"Ok. I'll go get Claire" I said walking out of the infirmary.
I walked back towards Brooklyn and saw them sitting together talking with each other.
"I found her. She's in the infirmary" I said.
"My mum!" Claire said running over to me.
"Yes. Follow Brooklyn so you don't get lost again though. I've gotta go do something" I said.
Brooklyn stared at me as I walked away. She knew I was going to talk with my dad. I walked over to his office and knocked on the door.
"Come in!" I heard someone say on the other side of the door.
I walked in and saw my dad sitting at his table again.
"Sam. You've come back. Would you like to have a chat now?" My dad said.
"Yeah. You go first" I said.
"Alright. Well you know that since the start of all this we haven't seen each other for Four Hundred and Eighty Four days. It's been quite a while. But, I would like to tell you how Finn and I got here, then I would like to know about your story" My dad said.
"Ok" I said.
"I was down in the city when it all went to crap. I quickly got into my car because I was scared. I drove past Finns school and spotted him. I picked him up and then I drove past your school. I looked everywhere around the school. But you weren't there. All I could see was dead bodies, so we headed out towards Mabel's and Frances's house" Zabi said obviously lying, he didn't know that I stayed there.
I tried not to look suspicious or confused. I didn't want him to know that I was at Underdale all along.
"Lyndi said they had a small little barricaded area up were she lived. She said it was safe there. So we headed straight there. We got stopped in traffic heading into the highway so we had to walk there. It took at least two days. I left a note for you at our old house hoping you would see it. Once we made it to Tungkillo we were safe. We lived there for a few weeks until we were attacked by some group. His name was Heath or something. I can't really remember. Anyway, no one made it out. Finn and I were the only survivors. We just traveled across South Australia trying to find a place we could live. Until we found The New Order. We were welcomed in and after a year I became the leader of this place. So that's my story. What about yours?" My dad asked.
"My story doesn't matter. You don't need to know about my past" I said.
"Hey. You said you would tell me. I would love to know where your original Safe Zone was. I would love to know where your wife and daughter is. Maybe I could go get them for you" my dad said.
I looked down at the floor twiddling with my fingers. I didn't trust my dad. He's already lied to me. He left me to die. He doesn't care about me. I looked up at him.
"I made it all the way out to Murray Bridge. I found this Safe Zone there. It was massive. I meet my wife there, and from then till I got here I was there for the whole time. We were never attacked by other people. It was safe" I said.
"Sounds good. How did you get here again?" My dad asked.
"Someone betrayed me and left me out here alone" I said.
"Well. I'll see what I can do about bringing her here" my dad said smiling.
"Thanks" I said.
"So What did you want to ask me?" My dad said.
"I witnessed a kidnaping. Someone in a black robe with a hoodie. He or she tried to take a little girl called Claire and they had her mother locked up in an abandoned caravan. Has this come up anytime before? Has anyone ever seen something like this happen before?" I asked.
"A kidnaping huh? Weird that sort of stuff doesn't normally happen here, but no. No one has ever made any complaints to me about a man in a black robe. That's the first time anyone has ever been kidnaped. Strange. I'll look into it. Give my apologies to Claire and her mother will you. But now I've got a lot of planning to do. So if you don't mind could you please leave" my dad said.
I stood up and walked over to the door. I opened the door and I almost walked out when my dad said "Come back when ever you want to talk. I'll see you soon".
"Bye" I said walking out closing the door.
I walked out in anger. I know now not to trust my dad. If I tell him where my family are he might go there and kill them all.
