#18 Eternal

There was a flower on the window
Beautiful as it was
It withered away.

There was a child in the park
She played there everyday
Then she grew up and looked away.

There was a snow flake on the ground
Spring came
And it melted like the snowman in the park.

There was a cat in this neighbourhood
It was ignored and abused
So it ran and never returned.

There was an old clock on the wall
With Roman numbers
It was rusty and so, thrown away.

There was a smile on his face
Time passed
And a frown it became.

There was an oak tree in the forest
Spring was eternal
An everlasting flame
It blended with summer, autumn and winter
It lived forever, the oak
It was always itself
Never betrayed
It found love and friends underneath the earth
Roots intertwined
And one they became
Living forever
In this world of decay.

There was a bell in the church
It rang every time
Rings till today
It is long forgotten
But it lives
For it is loved
By His followers —
As eternal as the Sun.

There was love in his eyes
Then she left
And darkness took over.
It was ugly
Dark and immortal
And stubborn —
It didn't leave until he found another
Until it was pushed back by the light
Of Eternal Love.

There was happiness
Once upon a time
When a child laughed
And did not cry.
That happiness resounds
As eternal as the stars
In the seventh street
Reflecting in the people
Who smile as they walk past
And their smiles remain.
Happiness is eternal in that little quaint street.

There was a genius
He was great
Selfless and modest
He knew everything
And it was his end.
But he lived forever
In the books
In the films
In the memories.

Everything that was still is
Somewhere
In someone's heart
In someone's mind
We all live forever
In greying photos
In fading memories
In changing places.

We are eternal for we have lived.
