Chapter 3

Lunch came around and I was exhausted already. All I did was sit in a class and copy down notes. It was the boredom I felt while doing such notes that made me so exhausted. I didn't even have a class with Violet either which made it even worse. What was this school thinking not giving us a class together. Whoever made these schedules ought to be ashamed of themselves. They separated two friends for no reason. It was so uncool.

Thankfully, it was lunch and that meant I could spend time with all three of my friends after so many years. That was the only good thing coming out of this. The bad thing was that I didn't have anything to eat. School lunch was the death of me and quite frankly, it didn't taste too good. I would usually pack a lunch, but I didn't want to be here today that I skipped it. Had I known how today would turn out, I would have packed something to eat. Ah well, maybe Violet will have something for me.

I walked to the court yard where Violet and I usually would eat everyday. I found Carson and Cole with her and I couldn't help but smile at Carson. He was so freaking cute. He was going to be the death of me if he kept looking the way he did. I wish I was able to hide how I felt. Violet sure was doing a good job like always. Why can't I be like her?

Running up to them, I wore a smile on my face.

"Guys, you won't believe how tired I am." I said with exhaustion in my voice as we walked up the bleachers. This was kind of our spot since freshmen year.

Violet flung her book bag down without a care in the world. "Today has been pretty slow. Lunch took forever to get here." She said pulling out what she had to eat.

We all laughed at her. If there's one thing Violet equally loved to loving Cole, it was food. She could talk about food all day if she wanted to. There wasn't one food item that this girl hasn't tried and liked. She eats any and everything. Where as to me, I'm a very picky eater. There was no way you would get me to eat something I did not normally eat. Violet, on the other hand, if you asked her to try something she'll gladly take it. That's what I appreciated about her. She was so optimistic.

So we sat and ate for about 15 minutes. Violet shared some of her food with me seeing as I hadn't packed my lunch. It was nice talking to each other like we haven't missed a beat. The weather being nice and them coming back was great. I was enjoying every minute of it. This was the kind of things I missed. Being able to not have a single care in the world was always a nice feeling when you were enjoying that feeling around friends as well.

We finished and that's when Cole and Violet decided they were going to spend their remaining time fooling around on the field. It was funny because Cole swore that he was faster than Violet, but Violet was our track star here. Every time they raced, he could never beat her.

"Come on, I swear to you I've gotten faster." Cole urged her to go down to the field with her just to see.

She shook her head and sighed. "You forget that I train year round so when you get faster so do I." She pointed out and he rolled his eyes at her.

"Just let's go! I'm gonna beat you this time." He pleaded and being as Violet can't turn him down, she went with him anyway.

Now it was just Carson and I alone. It wasn't as awkward as I thought it would be. Before, I would kind of be a mess, but now I was calm and laughing at Cole miserably trying to catch up to Violet as they raced. I also wanted some alone time with Carson too. It's been a minute since we had one of our talks. I'm sure there was a lot he needed to tell me. There wasn't  anything for me to tell him though. This time I'll do the listening and the advice giving.

He came and sat next to me, while smiling at me. I turned to face him and my cheeks were kind of hot. Even the breeze couldn't cool them down. The things he made me feel would probably never change, but I'm okay with that. Hopefully he would be too.
