Chapter 19
Opening gifts was always a real treat. You never knew what you were going to unwrap. All you had were your hands and some guesses. If you had friends like I did, it was pretty predictable. Unlike them, I tried my best to switch it up every now and then so they wouldn't always catch on. For instance, I got Violet these boots she's been pining over for the past year now and Cole, I got him concert tickets to see his favorite band. As for Carson, well, I didn't get him anything because we weren't talking. There was no telling when we were going to try and talk again. I almost felt kind of bad letting him see me give them gifts.
Not expecting it, he didn't get me anything either and I wasn't worried about it. He wasn't obligated to buy me a damn thing since I was the one that cut our friendship after all. It was just nice being able to spend another Christmas with him. With all of them actually. Violet and I have been doing Christmas by ourselves for years. Trying to keep the tradition alive. Now that they've come back, the tradition was better than ever.
Finally finishing, I started cleaning up all the wrapping paper because Cole and Violet had plans with each other for the rest of day until tonight. In the meantime, Carson stayed behind to keep me company. I'm kind of glad he did. It was going to be boring waiting in the house for them to get back. Also, Wyatt wasn't here so it's not like there was anything else for me to do. Carson was my best bet if he didn't have anything planned with Maisie.
He started helping me pick up the wrapping paper and I glanced over at him. He was shirtless, of course, exposing his 6 pack and very strong looking arms. He was the epitome of a sexy beast. Yes, I said it. He was a sexy beast and I couldn't get enough of him. My heart was racing just by staring at him. The lust I felt was so strong and apparent there was no explaining what was going to take over me.
Carson caught my gaze and I looked away quickly. Of course, I made myself look super obvious that I was checking him out. Instead of being cool about it, I fucked up and now he was going to run his mouth.
He chuckled and I could hear his foot steps walking up to me. That only made me more nervous. What was he going to do when he walked up to me? Was he going to say something stupid? Most likely because he was stupid, but I couldn't help being nervous. My heart was literally going to fly out of my mouth the closer he got to me. The fact that I still got nervous like this means my feelings for him are never going away.
Next thing I know, his fingers found their way under my chin and he turned my face towards him. His hazel eyes were bright and full of life. That smile was contagious as ever. Carson will never understand what he was doing to me.
"You know, if you want a peak all you have to do is ask." He spoke cockily with that smirk on his face.
I moved his fingers from under my chin and rolled my eyes. "Please, like I actually wanna check you out." I tried to play it off, but Carson always saw right through me.
He eyed me like he knew I was lying, but ultimately, he let it go. "Yeah okay, anyway, let's go."
My hand was being grabbed and I was being dragged upstairs out to the parking lot. He seemed like he was in a hurry to get out for some odd reason. We haven't done anything alone together in a very long time. In fact, since he's been back the most we did was either chill in my room or see each other at school. Even when we went to the bowling alley I didn't see him that much. Why he wanted to go somewhere with me in public now was beyond me. How would his pig nosed girlfriend feel about this?
Clearly he wasn't thinking about that and to my surprise we were out by the same truck I remember seeing back before he moved. It was his dad's old truck that Carson absolutely loved. Before we got into high school he made his dad promise to give it to him when he didn't need it anymore. I thought he was joking because who wants to drive around in a beat up truck through high school? Carson didn't care though. This is what he wanted and the fact that he got it brought joy to my heart.
