Chapter 30

I woke up later that day and I felt really relaxed. The things I've been doing with Carson I shouldn't have been. It was impossible for me not to though. Our attraction to each other was too strong not to go through with anything at this point. I didn't know what we were still, but that didn't really matter to me. All I know is that we're both single and this is our chance to finally act on our feelings. This was the first time in a while that I've been sure of anything. It felt good.

My door opened up and in came Carson with a big smile on his face. I smiled right back at him as he kissed my forehead laying next to me. I still got butterflies in my stomach being near him like this. After all the things we've experienced together the nervousness I felt always happened. It was ridiculous at this point, but I truly loved him. It couldn't be helped. Regardless, this was our time to shine now.

"You're finally awake, huh?" He asked putting his arms around me.

I snuggled up against him and sighed peacefully. "Yeah, but I want to go back to sleep." I moped with my head against his chest.

His chuckle brought joy to my heart. "Too bad, you can't. We have plans." His voice was stern.

I sat up and raised a brow at him. "Plans?" I asked confused.

"It's a surprise, but you need to go get dressed. In something nice." He smirked pecking me on the lips.

When he let go, my body craved for his touch again. The things this boy did to me was simply crazy. I loved it and I couldn't wait to see what he had planned for me. Since the last time he promised to take me somewhere, this was the first time we were going out for an actual date. No the frozen yogurt doesn't count. It was Sweet, but it doesn't count. We weren't serious then and it's just yogurt. Today was going to be an actual outing. There was nothing that was going to mess this up.

Quickly, but gracefully, I got up out of bed and tried to hurry to get dressed. He wanted me to dress nicely so I tried to wear something appealing. I wasn't a fan of getting dressed up like this unless it was for a party, but it was for Carson. I kind of curled my hair up a bit and threw on my blue silk dress with some heels. It was the best I could do considering I found out about this last minute. It would've been great if he told me before he decided to plan this surprise, but it was a surprise after all.

Walking out of my bathroom, I was greeted by a smirk from Carson. He was dressed casually and he looked so good when he cleaned up. Not that he didn't already, but man I loved it so much. Not to mention how good he smelled. It was like music to my nostrils. Seriously the man was so perfect in every way. Anyone would be crazy to give him up.

His hands wrapped around my waist and I smiled brightly. "You look absolutely gorgeous." He squeezed my waist tightly.

"Stop, you don't have to compliment me all the time." I blushed happy that he thought so highly of me.

"Nonsense of course I do, baby." He ran his fingers against my cheek. "You deserve it."

I smiled. "Thank you." My voice was sincere.

He chuckled. "Now come on we got to go!" He screamed, dragging me downstairs out to his truck.

We hopped in and started speeding down the street because he always wanted to speed for some reason. It was okay though because I knew it'll be worth it in the end. Definitely not if we get pulled over, but besides that I was excited for today. Not only that, but it was a great to spend the last day of our break together before heading back to school. Honestly, I couldn't have asked for anything better.

Turns out, he made reservations for us at this steak house that I loved. Their steak was always nice and tender. It was very juicy and everything about it was amazing. You can taste how much effort they put into their food. It was always top notch when I came here every time. Surprisingly, this was Carson's first time being here. Which shouldn't have been a surprise because he's been gone for a lot of years. This place just opened up when they had moved so of course he wouldn't have tried it. He loved it either way and paid for the whole meal. It was expensive, but he insisted that he pay for the bill. I would have paid for my food myself, but technically it was a date.

Anyhow, after our meal we came to a stop as the sun was setting. We were in this hilly area where it looks like the sun is just sitting on top of the water. It was really beautiful, but it was getting chilly. I had this stupid dress on and that wasn't doing me many favors. Of course, being the gentlemen that he is, he gave me his jacket that he had. I smiled brightly at him and blushed a little bit. Something about tonight felt different and I was going to find out why now.

His arm draped around me as I leaned into him watching the sun finish setting. "Savannah." He said my name softly. "Thank you. Thank you for giving me another chance."

I looked up at him and smushed his face gently. "Oh please. You know there's no place I rather be." I smiled. "Besides, you took me out on this lovely date. I have a great view of the city from here. Everything about today has been perfect." I tried to reason with him so he wouldn't think he owed me anything.

"Still, thank you. Hey you see that over there?" He asked me pointing in the opposite direction.

I looked over and shook my head. "What the heck are you talking about?" I turned around not paying much attention until I looked down. "I don't see...woahhhhh."

When I looked down, Carson was literally down on one knee and had a ring in hand. My heart was racing and I didn't know what to think. My heart was literally pounding because I didn't know what he was up to. This wasn't supposed to be happening. We were way too young to be making a commitment like this. Sure I loved him, but I was not ready for that. How was he even ready for that? What the hell was he thinking.

The panic started to settle in and he looked at me seeing the expression on my face. That made his face change but he didn't stop what he was doing. Instead, he grabbed my hand trying to make me calm down, but it wasn't working much. I just couldn't think of any other reason he would be down on one knee with a ring in his hand.

"Savannah, calm down." He spoke softly.

I shook my head. "N-n-no what are you doing?" I asked panicked. It was me over exaggerating, but I couldn't help it.

He chuckled. "Chill, I'm not trying to make you my fiancé." He reassured me. "It's a promise ring."

My nerves calmed down a bit and I sighed. It made me feel more relaxed, but I couldn't accept this promise ring. What if things ended up not working out for us? Did he really want to seal the deal with a promise ring? There was so much going on. So much that already happened that we didn't need to get in anymore drama. If anything happened between us, this ring would be pretty pointless. I didn't want that to be the case.

"Savannah, I love you, okay? And I know I've been pretty shitty at showing it sometimes, but I want to start over. I want us to start over. I-I..."

"I can't do this." I started panicking again. It was very irrational, but I couldn't help it. This was all happening so fast.

Finally, he stood up and grabbed my arm so I wouldn't leave. Not that I could go very far. "Hey, look at me. Look at me." His hand gently grabbed my face and turned it towards him. "Yes you can do this. We're in this together. Nothing is ever going to stop us from loving each other. I wouldn't be doing this if I didn't want to work things out with you. I'm giving you this ring because one day I want to be able to promise you the world." His voice was sincere and I can tell he meant every word he was saying.

I kind of just looked at him for a moment trying to calm my nerves down. He was being serious with me for once and I was turning him down because I was scared. That wasn't what I wanted to do though. This moment was supposed to be sweet and I was here ruining everything he had put his hard work into. Why was I such an idiot? The old me would have accepted this right away, but I guess it took a little bit more convincing to do so.

Sighing, I nodded my head and smiled at him. "Okay. I accept this because I love you too, Carson. I was just a little...scared." I freaked out a little bit.

He chuckled taking my hand and placing the ring on it. "Baby, it's okay. I would be freaked out too to be honest." We both laughed.

Our moment was coming back and both his hands cupped face as he kissed me ever so passionately. It was the best thing I ever felt since this morning. It had more meaning behind it since we already been on this amazing date and he surprised me with a promise ring. All of which I wasn't expecting. It was so sweet and I adored that he wanted to make things work with me. We were kind of making a serious commitment to each other and I just hope it can stay this way.
