As soon as Spock finished preparing their food, both he and Rachel heard the sound of the other member of their family waking up. Rachel finished setting the table as T'sha groggily made her way over to the other two. She rubbed her eyes as she sat down. Spock sat next to her, as he had noted that when she was like this, his presence made her feel more comfortable. This time was no different. As soon as he sat next to her, he noticed that she relaxed more. His presence was calming to her. He had noted that she had severe anxiety. Some thing that he grappled with as well. His way of dealing with it though was not, as the humans would say, healthy. He tend not to say much when something was bothering him. Until he couldn't anymore. Such was the case when his wife died. While he did not show it on the outside, on the inside he was torn apart. Truth be told, he knew that he would always be torn.
T'sha leaned her head against his shoulder as Rachel set their food before them. Spock watched his youngest daughter as she sat down on the other side of him. Spock made a plate full of food for T'sha before making one for himself. Rachel waited until they he was done and she made a plate for herself. Spock looked at his children, as he had so many times before. Each of them showing their hearts on their sleeves. He wished that he could do that.
He leaned down close to T'sha's ear, whispering. "You must eat, my Tshajia," he kept his tone calm, letting her feel the warmth that he was trying to project in his words. T'sha looked up at her Father. She sat up and began to eat her food. Spock watched her as she ate. He then turned his attention to Rachel, who was eating her meal. His attention shifted again as they heard a familiar chime come from the communication display that was ontop of his desk.
Spock arched an eyebrow, eating his own meal as his children finished their meal. At the sound of the chime going off again, he sighed. "Lt. Spock," came the voice of the communications officer. "There is a message coming in for you."
"Source?" Spock asked.
Rachel and T'sha exchanged curious glances at their Father's direction.
"The U. S. S Discovery," came the reply.
"Aunt Michael's ship?" T'sha asked. Spock arched an eyebrow. "It would appear so," he told her. "Put it through," he ordered. As soon as he was done eating, he switched on his communication console and the picture of his foster sister filled the screen.
"Spock," she greeted with a bow. T'sha and Rachel finished their meals and went over by the same screen that their father was looking at.
"Michael," Spock greeted as his eager young children came into view. Their excitement at seeing their Aunt apparent. T'sha stayed close to her father. A fact that was noted by both him and Michael. Michael knew how close the girls had been with their mother. But T'sha was also close with her father. Michael couldn't help but feel pride in how her nieces were being taken care of by her brother. She could see how much he loved and cared for his children as was apparent when they spoke.
"Greetings Aunt Michael!" Rachel smiled. "Hello Rachel," Micheal greeted with her own smile. Rachel, she was sure, was going to be a Doctor when she got older. Rachel was already an honory member of the Discovery's Medical staff. She loved learning about new species. And she spent many hours talking with the staff there about how to treate certain conditions.
"Greetings Aunt Michael!" T'sha chimed in.
T'sha also had a kind heart, and she also loved to learn. Like her father, she exelled in science and had impressed the science teams on both The Enterprise and the Discovery. She was close with Ensign Tilly, who Captain Pike had grown fond of. He had taken Tilly under his wing when they were stationed aboard Discovery during the recent events involving the being that they had called " The Red Angel."
Michael smiled at her nieces. "Greetings, T'sha. Girls, I must talk with your father in private," she said as her smile fadded a little. As much as she loved talking to her nieces, she did not call her brother to just catch up. She needed his help.
