The next morning, Spock woke to the sounds of his daughters eating breakfast. He was still holding the image of the bonding ceremony. He placed it back on the stand that was by his bedside. He sighed heavily and got to his feet. He ran a finger across the image of his late wife and he went into the sonic shower. When he emerged, he changed into his uniform and joined his daughters at the table. Rachel and T'sha were eating cereal and arguing over Chess strategies. In the middle of the table was a 3D chess board that belonged to their father.
Spock got himself some breakfast. When his meal materialized on the pad, he grabbed it and sat inbetween his two daughters. He watched as they played. T'sha was the white pieces and Rachel the black. And by the looks of it, Rachel was winning. Again. T'sha was getting annoyed. Spock could tell by the look on her face that she was thinking of her next move. Like her mother, she had a tell when she was trying to think. Spock had found that aspect of his late wife to be, as humans would put it, cute.
Spock shook his head, today was not the day to dwell on things that he could not change. Especially since they were going to be meeting up with his sister in a few hours. Spock cleared his throat, causing both girls to look at him. T'sha sat back down and finished her cereal before checking the monitor that displayed the time. She sighed heavily. She wasn't looking forward to going to school. Spock could tell. So could Rachel. Rachel got up and walked over to her sister. She placed her arms around her. "Just one day more, Sister," she said. "And don't forget, we'll get to see Aunt Michael soon."
