"Father?" Rachel asked. Spock looked at her. "What's wrong with emotions?" She asked again. T'sha looked at the two of them. "It is.. Hard for me to answer your question, my young Rachel," Spock said honestly. "But from my experience with your Mother, emotions were always considered to be something to be celebrated. She expressed her emotions freely. I wish I could have been as free to express mine," he said.
"What do you mean?" T'sha asked. "Grandfather and Grandmother raised me as Vulcan. Your mother wanted to raise you two differently. So did I," he admitted. "You two are closer to eachother than I am to my own siblings. For that I am envenious."
Rachel and T'sha moved closer to their Father.
They each sat on one side of him. "We are close because that's how you and Mother raised us that way. We relied on each other after you left," T'sha said. She placed her hand ontop of his. Spock looked at her with a look that could only be described as sympathy. His children had lost their childhood at a moments notice. Spock gave his daughter's hand a squeeze.
"I am sorry that I left," he said quietly to both of his children.
Rachel took her father's other hand in her's. "We are glad that you are back, Father," she said. "We knew that you needed help. We all need help at some point or another," she added. She looked at her sister as she finished talking. T'sha looked away. Spock noticed his daughter's change . He could tell that she was in pain. T'sha, like him, kept to herself mostly. She hardly let anyone in. Much like he did.
Rachel also kept people at bay. They both were able to judge people and had been hurt as well as bullied all throughout their childhood at the hands of children who got off on being bullies. Rachel usually brought to them to their knees with her sarcasm and quick logic. T'sha, on the other hand, would get pushed too far and usually her logic gave way to her human emotions. Such was the case earlier in the day.Not that Spock blamed her for it. He used to get into fights with the older boys at the learning center on Vulcan. Especially when they toremented him about his mother or his learning disability. So he understood his children's furstration. He looked at both of his children with a look of Fatherly love.
"You are both much stronger than I have been these past few months," he said. "When I was on Starbase 5, I thought of you two all of the time I was there," he said. "I had missed you both. But I wanted to get better for you both. I felt that I was .. Unfit to be your father," he admitted.
Both of the girls looked at eachother and than back at their father.
With a deep sigh, Spock got to his feet. He let go of his girls hands. "Finish your homework and get ready for bed. We meet up with your Aunt's ship," he said. He headed out of the room and headed into his own. He sat on his bed, looking at the picture on his bedstand . It had been taken on the day of his and his late Wife's bonding ceremony. He took the picture and held it close to him.
He ran a finger across the image of his Wife. "I wish that you were still here. I have so much I wish to tell you," he said. "I miss you, my Wife."
