It was raining today.
A dreary, gray sight.
And the perfect inspiration for a little bit of poetry.
I was using a method I liked to call "the fast pass" to get my work done. Taking in small details and ideas from the world around me, I would type up a quick prompt or poem and save it to my "ideas" document on google docs. Then if I ever felt extremely stuck, or wanted to type something for fun, I could pick a prompt and branch a story off of it.
Grey skies,
Sad thoughts.The emotions unseen,
The burdens kept in.Oh how I wonder,
What good would it be?
To believe,
And see,
Past the grey skies,
To the sun behind.I stared at the screen of my laptop and rubbed my eyes. I couldn't see my reflection, but I was 90% sure they were red, from the lack of sleep and the excess use of my computer.
The rain pitter-pattered outside, each droplet hitting the sidewalk, the road, the grass, the roof, with a sound. Colorful umbrellas littered the view outside, people walking to and fro.
Across the street was an ice cream shop called Frosty Treat. In this hot July weather, I could see a crowd forming in there, most likely to hide from the precipitation and to relish in the air conditioning. The temperature outside was a 90°F, even with no sun, and it was as humid as ever.
I've never been a fan of the summer seasons.
I like autumn when the breeze is cool but the sun is still out and keeping me warm. When the trees and parks are scattered in an array of reds, oranges, yellows, and browns with the occasional green of evergreen trees. It was truly a beautiful sight, and I loved the variety of colors.
Unfortunately, autumn was still about three months away. Right now the only color I could see was the drooping green trees, the grey of the rainclouds, and the various colors of the buildings along the street.
One thing I did love about the rain though, was when cars turned corners and drove into puddles, resulting in huge splashes of waters would flying up.
It just looked really cool.
Ding!
I turn back to my device, a noticing a new notification had popped up.
I hummed, clicking on it.
Hey,
Remember when we would sit outside on the steps of your porch or mine, safely underneath the roof, and watch as the rain fell just centimeters away from us?
~Me.
P.S. I meet up with Felix and Emory every now and then to catch up, but not really the others as much. And Felix did tell me that apparently Noam and Liv are dating? Which is kinda surprising...because, well, you should know.
