He heard the shouting behind him, but still, Kyle didn't stop. He had no choice now. The path ahead was the one he had chosen, and now he would have to deal with the consequences.
He pulled harder on the stick, trying to go faster forward. The skiff accelerated, and Kyle turned around one last time to see the hoard fade into a molten green mess on a barren landscape. Rock formations surrounded him now, but still he knew I would have to find cover fast.
The horde had ways to pursue him from above, so he had to go somewhere where they couldn't go. A place where the sky was covered in dark green vines interwoven together, where danger lurked behind every corner.
And he saw it. The one place he had been told to avoid his whole life. And now it was the only place Kyle would be safe.
Those Whispering Woods.
He felt the sweat drip down his furrowed brow. Was this what he really wanted to do? There was always the odd chance that he could be forgiven. After all, it was apparent the hoard needed him...
No. The only reason why he was needed was because he was a scapegoat for every failed plan. He wasn't going back. Instead, he was going further, further into the woods.
The shouting behind eventually faded, making it increasingly obvious that he could stop the skiff. He only powered on.
He wasn't sure what he was searching for. Everything looked so different, yet familiar. He felt himself getting lost by the minute. If he continued on like this, even if he wanted to turn back he would never find his way out.
The moment he realized this, his heart started to skip. He stopped immediately, and sat, alone.
What had he done? How could this have happened. This is all your fault!
Thoughts raced through his mind, filling him with the dread and consequences of his actions.Kyle! KYLE! YOUR WORTHLESS. WE NEVER WANT YOU BACK. YOU'RE GOING TO BE NOTHING MORE THAN ASH ON BEAST ISLAND BY THE TIME IM DONE WITH YOU! YOU STUPID, INSIGNIFICANT LITT-
Catra's screams died out when Kyle suddenly was blown off the skiff by an unknown force. He tumbled down, hitting branches and plants, screaming all the way.
Kyle could have sworn he saw his life flash before his eyes, he could have- if he hadn't of landed on a pile of leaves, which oddly enough, cushioned his fall.
A little dazed he pulled his right shoulder into vision. And much to his dismay, he found an arrow, square in his shoulder.
Before he could cry out in horror, a sharp noise behind him beckoned his attention. Slowly turning his head, he gazed up to the cloaked figure standing behind.
Kyle couldn't help it. He screamed.
And much to his surprise, the figure screamed as well. A high pitched shriek, filled with multiple voice cracks.
