Dianne's POV:
I shakily unlocked Joe's hotel room and ran inside, slamming the door behind me. I dropped my stuff and rushed to the set of drawers.
I knelt down and frantically rummaged through the drawers, trying to find my phone charger. I then realised that it was in my suitcase which was in the corner.
But my eye caught Joe's laptop on the desk. Quickly, I ran to it and switched it on.
My nails tapped on the wood impatiently as it loaded, my vision becoming blurry. I bit my lip to hold back the tears as I opened up google.
Then, I booked a train ticket back to London for 10pm.
I knew that there was a party after shooting the dances but I couldn't face it.
The text on the screen I saw in the elevator had completely broken me, if that was even possible.
I quickly turned off the laptop as I heard a knock at the door.
Glancing in the mirror, I frantically wiped away the tears and sighed.
It didn't look that noticeable that I'd been crying, at least that's what I saw.
Slowly, I opened the door and pulled Joe into a hug.
'You ok?'
I nodded, knowing I couldn't tell him about what had happened.
'So I was wondering if you'd want to go out for dinner tonight?'
Dammit.
I stare wide eyed at him, not knowing what to do.
'I-I can't- M-My best friend in L-London-' I stutter, but stop myself when I realise what I'm saying.
Well done Dianne, so much for not telling him anything.
'What's happened?' He asked, seeing my red eyes and smudged mascara.
'I'll tell you after the quickstep.' I blurt out, not wanting him to worry about what was going on until after dancing in front of his nan.
He nodded, but looked at me seriously.
'Whatever's happening, I'm staying by your side.'
I smile slightly, seeing a side of Joe I'd never seen.
The protective side, but not in a creepy way.
He wanted to make sure I was ok, which was something my previous lovers never did.
'Of course, but I just don't want to worry you...' I trial off, glancing at the time.
'Anyway, its almost Quickstep time!' I exclaim, trying to fake my happiness.
He smiled, pulling me into a hug.

~~~
It was now after the show, and Joe and Dianne had skipped the after party.
'Dianne, please tell me what's happened. I want to help you.' He said, taking her hands into his.
She looked up into his eyes and let out a shaky sigh.
'M-My best friend was in a-a car crash this morning. A-And she... didn't make it.'
A tear slid down her cheek, splashing to the floor.
Joe didn't say anything, he just let her fall onto his chest and cry.
He rubbed her back gently, playing with the ends of her hair.
Because he knew this relaxed and calmed her down.
'You're gonna get through this..'
He said that because he knew that he couldn't say everything would be fine, because it isn't fine.
'I don't think so, though...' she muttered, lifting her head from his chest.
'I've been through too much, I... I can't take this anymore...'
Joe frowned at Dianne, trying to read her expression.
'Take what?' He asked, but he feared the answer.
'Life.' She stated, expressionless.
