Chapter 7
Ashley-
We all sit around the dining room table, eating quietly, aside from the occasional word or two from Mom and Dad. Ross looks over at me, and I nod.
"We have an annoucement to make," Ross says, looking at me, making everyone look at us.
"Alright, what is it, hun?" Mom asks, as Ross still looks at me, making sure I'm ready. I nod slightly again.
"Ashley and I," he starts. "Are together." Mom and Dad, look at us, eyes widened. "You - you mean a couple?" Mom says, making Ross nod. Mom and Dad look at each other, get up, then motion for us to follow them into the living room.
Once we're there, they sit on the couch, Ross and I sit on the loveseat.
"How long has this been going on?" Mom asks quietly, looking at both of us. "Uh," I start. "About three months," Ross finshes for me, rubbing my back, calming me slightly.
But I couldn't just keep calm when I know that I may have to go back to the orphanage.
"We're not mad," Dad finally speaks after a silence. "But you're siblings."
"I know Dad, but," Ross speaks. "I love Ashley. More than a sister." Dad look at both of us, then at Mom, then whispers something to her. "We'll be back." They walk out, leaving us alone.
"Oh my god," I say, freaking out. "I bet they hate me now." Ross sighs, bringing me into his arms. "They don't hate you, that's a strong word," he pauses. "They're talking right now. We can't jump to conclusions." I look up at him. "Yeah, that's easy for you to say when you won't have to go back to an orphanage when they don't accept us."
Mom and Dad walk back in, sitting down on the couch again. "We talked," Mom starts. "And we think that if you two are in love, then we won't stop you." She smiles slightly, as I feel myself go light-headed, then everything goes black.
