Chapter 17

Ashley-

"Ashley! Please answer me," Ross pleads.

I still don't answer, and this makes Ross let out a frustrated sigh. "Ashley," he repeats.

I get up, walking toward the door, until his hand grips my wrist gently, spinning me around.

"What is it, babe?" Ross asks softly. "Nothing." I finally speak, turning away.

"There's something," he pushes. "I said it's nothing." I repeat myself with a little bite in my voice. I remove my wrist from Ross' grip, walking out to the front of the bus, sitting next to Ryland on the couch.

Maybe I should tell Ross. But I can't.  I known what he'll say: "You're perfect to me." I sigh quietly at my thoughts quietly.

"Everything okay?" Ryland turns his head from the TV to look at me. "Yea," I weakly smile, but he knew better. "C'mon, tell me."

"I can't," I whisper as Ross walks in, his eyes not leaving me as he sits next to me.

"Please," Ross whispers. "Tell me."

I look at him, then look back down at my hands. Maybe I should. I don't know.

~~~
I wake up next to Ross, his arm around my waist. I slowly get out of bed, walking to the kitchen to make myself some breakfast, then Rocky walks in with Carter resting against his hip.
"Aw, thanks Rock," I send a small smile his way, making him smile and put Carter in my arms.
"Here, I'll make you some breakfast, it's the least I can do." Rocky tells me. "Nah, it's okay. Honestly." He gives me a look. "Just let me."
I sit Carter in his highchair, and I sit at the table, watching Rocky graciously make me breakfast as Rydel walks in. She sits next to me.
"Morning," she greets, smiling slightly. "Ry told me that something's bothering you. What is it?"
I sigh. "It's nothing, Del. Don't worry about it, okay?"
She nods hesitantly, and gets up to grab a water from the fridge, then coming back to sit again.
"Ashley!" I hear Ryland's voice call. I immediately look over at Carter, and Rydel says, "I'll watch him."
I nod 'thank you,' and walks toward the sound of Ry's voice. I'm suddenly pushed into the back of the bus, and I see Ross sitting on the couch with his guitar on his lap.
"Just listen, okay?" He states and I nod, still standing in the same place.
"Made a wrong turn, once or twice
Dug my way out, blood and fire
Bad decisions, that's alright
Welcome to my silly life
Mistreated, misplaced, misunderstood
Miss "No way it's all good"
It didn't slow me down
Mistaken, always second guessing
Underestimated, look I'm still around
Pretty pretty please
Don't you ever ever feel
Like you're less than, less than perfect
Pretty pretty please
If you ever ever feel
Like you're nothing
You are perfect, to me
You're so mean, when you talk about yourself
You are wrong
Change the voices in your head, and make them like you instead
So complicated, look how big you'll make it, filled with so much hatred
Such a tired game
It's enough, I've done all that I can think of, chased down all my demons
I'll see you do the same
Oh oh
Pretty pretty please
Don't you ever ever feel like you're less than
Less than perfect
Pretty pretty please
If you ever ever feel like you're nothing
You are perfect, to me
The whole world's scared so I swallow the fear
The only thing I should be drinking is an ice cold beer
So cool in lying and we try try try but it's a waste of my time
Tired looking for the critics cause they're everywhere
They don't like my jeans, they don't get my hair
String ourselves and we do that all the time
Why do we do that
Why do I do that, why do I do that
Yeah
Pretty pretty please
Don't you ever ever feel
Like you're less than, less than perfect
Pretty pretty please
If you ever ever feel like you're nothing
You are perfect, to me, yeah
You're perfect, you're perfect to me
Pretty pretty please
If you ever feel like you're nothing
You are perfect, to me
