Chapter 21 - We'll Be Back Soon

Chapter 21

Ashley-

I start to pack shirts, jeans, everything I needed to go for mine and Ross' honeymoon. We chose to go to Puerto Rico. I suddenly feel two firm arms around my waist from behind as I stand at the side of our bed.

"Hey," Ross whispers in my ear. "You almost done?" I smile slightly. "Yeah. Just need to get a few more things." I turn around, and immediately, my eyes meet Ross'.

"It's going to be so nice," Ross happily sighs. "But I'm going to miss Carter."

"Yeah," I agree, my fingertips tracing patterns on his biceps. "But it'll only be for a week."

"DADDY!" We hear Carter's small voice as he runs in our room. "Hey buddy," Ross smiles, his arms releasing me, picking up Carter.

"Carter, where are you?!" We hear Mom chuckle slightly from dowstairs. "Up here!" He calls, a smile engraved on his lips. "You little monkey!"

I laugh at this as Mom walks in. "C'mere you! Let your Mommy and Daddy get ready." She takes Carter from Ross' arms, and walks out with the giggling toddler.

"There," I say, finally finished packing. "All done."

"Can I have a kiss?" Ross asks, making me giggle. "You're really asking?" He smirks, his lips meeting mine, and gently, he lays me on the bed.

"Nuh uh," I giggle, breaking the kiss. "We have to go." He groans. "But-" "But nothing, babe. Now come on." I climb out from under him, leading him out of the room, suitcases in hand, and we head to the car.

"Flight C56 now boarding," the intercom rings through the airport. I turn to everyone, not wanting to leave, but at the same time, I wanted the time to relax.

"Bye Delly," I whisper as I hug Rydel, tears pooling my vision. I couldn't help it. "Ash, don't cry," she leans out of our embrace look at me. "It won't be too long." I nod. "Love you, Del."

We say goodbye to everyone, and lastly, I crouch down to Carter's height. "Bye baby. See you soon." I say quietly, hugging him tightly.

I release him, standing, and Ross takes my hand in his.

"No! Don't leave forever!" Carter cries, clinging to my legs.

"Aw, babe," I pick him up. "It's okay. We'll be back soon."
