Chapter 16

Ashley-

Right now, R5 has been on tour for about a month, and Mom thought it would be nice if we brought Carter along. I was hesitant at first, only because I didn't want Ross to be distracted, but both Ross and Mom convinced me to bring Carter along.

"Dada! Dada!" Carter babbles as he walks into Ross' arms from mine on the tour bus. "Yeah, come to Daddy." Ross coos, holding him to his chest.

"So what can I expect when our own arrives?" Rydel sits next to me on the carpet, making me turn to her, legs crossed.

Rydel and Ellington's baby was due in a few weeks, so I was helping as much as I could with everything Rydel wanted to know.

"A lot of crying," I laugh, making Rydel smile. "I dunno, a lot of diapers, and um, well, you could ask Mom."

"I know that," she laughs. "But she hasn't had a baby in years." I laugh. "Yeah, that is true."

"Ashley!" Riker nudges my shoulder gently from behind, making me turn towards him. "Yeah?" "Ross needs some help." He points to Ross, and let's just say that Carter has done a lot of things.

I couldn't help but giggle as I get closer to him, pulling Carter's hands out of Ross' hair, and bring him into my arms.

"My hair!" Ross shrieks, his hands all over his head. I giggle more, reaching my hand up to help him fix it.

"There," I say. "As good as new." He smiles. "Thanks. You promise it looks okay?" I nod. "Yeah, of course." I kiss his cheek as I stand, walking into the back, putting Carter in his playpen to play with the toys in there.

"I'm bored," Ross whines, walking in, flopping down on the couch.

"I dunno how I can help with that," I laugh. "Cuddle?" He asks. "Carter," I remind him. "Just get Ryland to watch him or something."

"And pay him?" I joke. "No. We're his parents, we're supposed to take care of him."

"Once and awhile it's okay,"

"But still,"

"But still nothing. I'll just get Dels and Ell to watch him. They need the practice anyway." Ross pauses. "Delly! Ell!"

They both walk in a minute or so later. "Could you watch Carter for us?"

"Sure," Rydel smiles lightly, picking up Carter, walking to the door.

"What if he poops?" Ell asks, making me laugh. "Just change him." He makes a face. "But it'll be stinky."

I roll my eyes, smiling. "Just - go." I start to laugh, as Delly takes his hand in her free one, closing the door behind her.

I sit down on the couch next to Ross, leaning my head on his shoulder. "This is what you wanted?" I look up at him, making him smile and nod.

"It just seems like you're always with Carter. He's taking away my Ash," he pouts, making me giggle. "I'll always be your Ash, Ross. It's just for right now, Carter needs more attention than you do because he's a baby."

"But I'm your baby," he opposes. I sigh, but laugh. "Okay, just - shh." He laughs, and wraps an arm around me, pulling me into his side.

"ANYONE IN - oh, hey guys," Rocky and Riker barge in, breaking the comfortable silence.

"Hey," I laugh. "Did you want to play video games?" Rocky nods eagerly, making me smile lightly. "Okay. I guess cuddle time's over, babe." I look up at Ross, who pouts as in saying 'somewhere else, then?'

"C'mon," I take his hand, leading him out to the front of the bus, sitting on the couch.

"But everyone's here," Ross tells me quietly. "I know, but it's the best we can do for right now." I reply, leaning into his side, making him wrap an arm around me.

"Anyone what pizza?" Mom calls from the kitchen. A chorus of 'yeah's' answer her, and the bus stops, I'm assuming at a pizza place.

Mom gets the pizza, and we start driving again, and everyone digs into the four pizzas. "You aren't having any?" Ross sits back beside me, mouth full of pizza.

"Nah, not hungry," I lie. I hated lying to him, but I had to loose the baby fat.

Ever since Carter was born, I've been trying to loose all the loose, stretched skin, but nothing was working. And since then, I've been trying to avoid pizza, chips, fast food, things like that. I wouldn't tell Ross this because I know he'd say 'you're perfect, it doesn't matter,' and I know he would be saying that with good intentions, but it matters to me.

"I'm gonna go to the back," I tell Ross quietly, making send a questioning look my way, but nods anyway as I walk to the back of the bus, sitting on the couch, turning on the TV. I watch a rerun of Jersey Shore, and on the commercial break, Ross walks in.

"You okay? You don't seem like it," he sits beside me, switching the TV off. "And why didn't you eat?"

I don't answer, I just start to play with my hands in my lap. I knew the answer he'd give me anyway, so I'm not going to.

"Ash, what's up? Ever since a month ago you've been acting all distant, and you're always wearing baggy clothes," he pauses. "Not saying you don't look okay in - I think you get my point. Anyway, what's up?"

I still don't answer, I just keep playing with my hands.
