Chapter 13
Ashley-
The due date for Carter was supposed to be yesterday, so I'm kind of freaking out.
"What am I supposed to do?!" I panic. I really didn't. Ross was trying his best to stay calm with me freaking out.
"Okay, just calm down," he takes my hands in his. "Didn't Mom tell you what to do?"
"I haven't told her," I admit, looking down.
"What?! You haven't?!" Ross panics now. "MOM!"
Mom comes running down the stairs. "What's wrong? Is Carter alright?"
"Well, yes and no," I say. "His due date was yesterday."
Mom's eyes widen. "Oh! Well, uh, try using the exercise ball. I'll go grab it!"
Mom goes down to the basement, then comes back up with the exercise ball, and I start to move around on it. After a little while, I feel wetness between my legs. My eyes widen.
"What's happening, Mom?!" Ross freaks out now, as Mom tries to calm him. "Ross, hun, it's okay. I think her water just broke."
I nod. "Let's go... I guess."
"Mark! I'll call you and you can bring the kids then!" Mom calls to Dad. "Alright, hunny! Drive safe!"
Honestly, I was scared out of my mind. I really didn't know what was going to happen.

Ross helps me into a hospital gown, laying me down on the hospital bed. The contractions on the way here in the car were painful, but bearable. But right now, these ones are just unbearable.
"It hurts Mom," I whisper, a tear streaming down my face.
"It's alright, hun," Mom soothes, as Ross wipes my tear.
"Alright, we'll have to do some routine tests," The nurse walks in.
I take a deep breath, trying to keep calm. Ross holds out his hand for me to take, and I do, squeezing it as another contraction comes and goes.
"Okay, it looks like you're ready to push," the nurse tells me. "Push!"
"It hurts," I whimper, a tear sliding down my cheek again. "You're doing great baby," Ross rubs the top of my hand with his thumb, wiping y tears with his other.
After an hour and a half, the nurse finally tells me to push one last time. We all finally hear Carter's first cries.
"It's a boy!" The nurse cheers, beaming.
I smile up at Ross and he leans down, kissing my sweaty forehead. "You did great, baby. How are you feeling now?"
"I hurt," I say, just as the nurse comes back in, carrying a bundle of blue blankets, and places it in my arms.
"What's his name?" The nurse asks.
"Carter Shor," I answer, not taking my eyes off of him.
"He looks so much like you, Ross." Mom comments, making us smile. "I'll let you have some alone time while I call your Dad." We both nod and keep staring at Carter.
"Mom's right," I smile up at Ross, finally tearing my eyes from Carter. "He looks just like you."
"I dunno about-" Ross' sentence is cut short as he stares at Carter, and I look down and see his eyes slightly open. Tears fill my eyes in joy. "You're right." He finishes. I lean up, kissing his cheek.
"You wanna hold him?" I ask, holding out Carter to him. He nods, and takes him carefully, as if he's going to break. Suddenly, the door opens, and everyone crowds in.
