____________________________________I had spent the whole day with the Braithwaite family and their friends. They had somewhat calmed down and were in a much more comfortable mood. Yeah, people would cry every now and then, but for the most part, I saw smiles.
I was glad. I didn't really know everyone, and I'm not even a social person that likes people at all, but I was at ease with them.
They didn't annoy me, they were kind and helpful. By now it was 6:00. People had already started to leave. I was about to stand up and excuse myself because I wasn't going to lie, those letters that Lilah had written for me, were making me itch to go read them.
I stood up and that was when the doorbell rang. Mrs. Braithwaite quickly went to answer the door.
I wasn't paying attention but my head snapped when I heard sobs.
I turned to see Mrs. Braithwaite hugging a woman whose face was buried in her neck.
Bruno and Fernanda both rush to the door and did the same.
"Who's that?" I whispered to Mr. Braithwaite.
"That's my oldest daughter. Neveah," he says before going to the door and greeting his eldest daughter.
I was a little surprised. Nobody thought she would even come. I didn't even recognize her.
As she stepped into the door, a guy around her age followed in with a toddler in his arms. People were greeting them, smiling proudly to have finally seen her after many years.
I have only ever met Neveah once. She was mostly someone that was talked about. I would see pictures of her. She was pretty, no doubt about that.
Now that I'm seeing her in person again, I was a little astonished. She was gorgeous. Definitely, someone who turns heads wherever she passes by. But still, her beauty didn't compare to Lilah's.
Once she had greeted everyone, her and the family sat down on next to where I was. She looked up and saw me.
"Oh hi, I'm Neveah," she smiles.
'She doesn't remember me.'
I offer my hand to shake but she pulls me in for a hug instead.
I was caught off guard a little but then I remembered this was something Lilah used to do. I wanted to say something before, but now I can't help but think that this is okay.
If anything it brought a smile to my face.
"I'm Tyler," I nod.
"Neveah don't you remember Tyler? He's Lilah's Ex but he's one of the good ones that we were rooting for, to get back together," Fernanda chuckles.
"Oh no, I'm sorry, I don't remember, but I'm glad that you still managed to be a part of my sisters' life. She must have meant a lot to you if you stick around this long," Neveah smiles sadly.
'You have no idea.'
"I don't mean to pry but what happened to you? I would only hear about you when Lilah would mention something that she missed about you. You all seemed like you were really close but I never met you until now," I frowned.
"Yeah, I'm afraid it was all my fault. Lilah and the guys did nothing wrong, I was just lost. I blamed them for stuff that they never did, I let my blind judgment get in the way of my relationship with my family."
Bruno saw my confused face and mouthed that he would explain.
He nodded for me to follow him to the kitchen. I politely excused myself.
