"Say it America! Who lured everyone here?" Italy demanded.
America looked up.
"What's going on aru?!" China exclaimed. Russia turned towards the blonde nation. "America?" There was no smile on Russia's face now.
Italy walked closer to the bars, and Canadra readied herself for immediate action if she had to.
"By the way, there's nothing in that box. It's just an empty box. Sorry." Italy said, emotionless. "What's the meaning of this?!" Canada yelled, more shock than anger.
England grabbed America's collar menacingly. "America.... What's going on here? What are you hiding for God's sake?!" He growled, his voice threatening and low. America looked up at the ceiling, saying nothing.
"Aren't you going to say it America? Is there a reason? Think about the people around you for once!" Italy barked, pushing America to his limits. "Leave Mr.America alone! He's done NOTHING!" Canadra declared. She had no idea what was going on, but she knew that it wasn't good. Friends turning on friends was the last thing she needed- no, they needed. Those trapped nations were her only way of escape, and if they disappeared off the face of the Earth, she was left to life of solitude with her evil mistress.
America showed no emotion nor action towards what the Italian was saying.
"Italy! Open this door, right this instance!" Hungary snarled. "Please, Italy!" Germany begged, a mixture of emotions flashing across his face.
"If I do, you'll get mad at me... Then again you already are." Italy said.
"Son of a Hündin..." Germany cursed. Prussia's red eyes were filled with guilt. "I-Italy..."
"Aren't you going to say it?" Italy asked, a tone of rage taking over. "Fine. I'll do it for you." His voice cracked on 'fine'. Nothing was fine- everything was wrong.
"You see... I'm the one who told America about this place."
"Th-Then..." Japan stuttered.
"It wasn't America who started this. It was me. I told him. That's why you're all here."
"You told him?! Why?!" Prussia asked, a shiver going through him.
"I-I... I know this place. I-I... grew up here. With my brothers and family. With Romano, and Holy Rome, and Big Brother France, and Spain... and Madre..... You remember it too, don't you, France?"
"Wh-What?!" France was a little taken back by that. Had he?
"You don't remember... But I do. Those with Roman and Germanic descent... They were once part of the Lunar family. Once America learned about the legends of those who lived here, he told everyone this could be the base of our greatest enemy. It could be the base of the one who kills all the nations." Italy chocked, old wounds opening. "America spread the word, and so, we all investigated it."
"Why did you lock us up here?" France asked, concern in his eyes.
"You would gang up on me and ruin my plans. Just.. stay here for a little, OK?" Italy gave a weak smile.
"You're f******g kidding me! I'll just- Shit!" England cursed. "I have no magic left!"
"Thank you. You were all really helpful! I'll be going now. Thank you for finding this for me Germany! You too, America! Grazie per tutto!" Italy said, turning to walk away.
"...You really should have learned to smile a little more naturally."
Italy stopped dead in his tracks. His amber eyes widened. "Did you forget what we said at breakfast? The one who laid the rails... Yeah, sure it was you. But I chose to run on them. I could have chosen not to, but I ran on those rails like my ass depended on it. No one thinks it's your fault Italy." America smiled, tears running down his face.
Italy stayed silent.
"Italy!! Please, open the door! You don't have to do this alone! We can all get out together!! Please!" Japan begged and pleaded.
"No... We can't. I'll tell you one more thing- that Thing is after me. And I know it's Ryuu. That's why no matter how m,any of us are gathered together, it will target me and attack first. That's why I tried to keep close to the doors as much as possible. It don't work, but I tried." Italy explained, tears stinging his eyes.
"This ends here. I won't let that witch win... I'll make this the endgame round! I won't let here hurt more innocent people! If I come back.... give me a good scolding, vee?"
And then Italy took off, looking over his shoulder one last time.
Just so he could give them a true smile, for what might be the one last time.
