Chapter 4:
JOHN'S POV
It was a usual day at Baker Street. Sherlock and I were in the middle of a case. Lizzie sat on the couch. She was working on her laptop, but you could tell she wasn't really there.
"I don't know. I feel like it couldn't be him." I said to Sherlock. "What do you think, Lizzie?"
"Mhm.""Elizabeth?"
She looked up. "Huh?"
"We asked you a question."
"I'm sorry." She sat down her laptop. "What's this case about?"
"You helped us with it last night. How can you not remember?" Sherlock scoffed.
"I'm sorry..." She stood up and walked over. "What was the question?"
Soon her phone then went off, causing her to rush back over to the couch to answer it. I watched her as Sherlock gave a typical eye roll and continued looking through the information.
"It's work, I have to go. I promise to help you later." She quickly packed up her bag and was out of the flat before I could respond.
"Elizabeth's been acting strange lately." Sherlock stated.
"Sometimes she just gets stressed out and acts kind of frazzled. It seems that it's just work."
"Just work?" He looked over at me, rolling his eyes as he went over and began to look through Lizzie's stuff. "She's only taking care of a small case at Scotland Yard. I asked Mycroft and he told me that's there's nothing she's doing for the government right now. Elizabeth is intelligent enough that little cases with Geoff don't stress her out. It has to be something else."
"Are you really going through her things? She'd kill you if she was here."
"Yes yes. Tell me something I don't know." He threw the papers down and walked over to me.
"Then something else is stressing her out. Honestly, it's fine." I opened up my laptop to go update my blog. Not a minute passed before my laptop was slammed shut and I was met with Sherlock right in my face.
"Do you not care that there's something going on with your sister? She has never acted this off since she moved in."
"I guess you're right.. Do you really think something major could be going on? She works for the government dealing with corrupt politicians and other major cases..." I looked up at him. "Do you think someone could be threatening her?"
"That could be a possibility."
"Could you we go talk to Mycroft? He knows everything. He'd know if someone was after her, right?"
"He's out of town today. He'll be back tomorrow morning. We can go see him then."
"Maybe I'll stop by Scotland Yard in a couple of hours and take her some lunch. Check in on her, you know?"
"That works. For now we should get back to the case." He picked up some of the documents and sat down at the table. "It was the daughter! She said she was out of town that week, but after using some connections with Mycroft I was able to get footage of her in town during that time."
Looking through the information, I soon threw it down. "Damn. It could have bee-"
"No, John. It's never twins."
"It has to be twins at some point!"
A couple of hours passed of working on the case. After coming to the conclusion that it was in fact the daughter, I decided to go take Lizzie some lunch at work.
