Chapter 2:

ELIZABETH'S POV

"Good morning you two." I said to Sherlock and John as I walked in and made myself a cup of tea.

"You're all dressed up." John turned to me. "Is something going on at Scotland Yard?"

"No, nothing there. I actually have to sit through some meetings today. I got a call from my old employer that it's time to meet up. I haven't seen anyone since the accident." I went over to the table, grabbing my laptop and quickly shoving it in my bag.

"Are you sure you're ready to go back?" John asked. "Maybe it's too soon."

"John, I have to get back to my job. I'm going to start off slow and then work my way back up traveling."

I watched as he shook his head, rolling his eyes. I should have known he would become overprotective.

We all sat in silence for a few minutes until we heard footsteps.

"Hello brother mine."

"To what do we owe the pleasure, Mycroft?"

"I came to pick up Miss Watson for our meetings today."

"You work for Mycroft?" Sherlock and John asked in unison.

"She does. I discovered she and Miss Powell when they were still in university. They were rather impressive together. They began working for the government after the graduated." He then turned to me. "We must be at the meeting soon."

Sherlock looked up from his violin. "A day with Mycroft and those other government idiots? I'm very sorry for you, Elizabeth."

I couldn't help but let out a small chuckle. Mycroft shot me a glare as he walked out of the flat.

"Bye. I'll see you later."

I followed Mycroft outside to the car. We rode to the government building in silence for a few minute before he turned to me.

"I see you're fond of my little brother."

"Sherlock's a brilliant person. I love working with him."

"Work is not what I meant." He turned to me. "You have an attraction to him."

"What? No. Don't be ridiculous."

"It's rather obvious, Elizabeth. Just know he's not one for sentiment."

"Thank you, Mycroft, but I'll be fine." I scoffed lightly and looked out the window.

Is he serious here? I've only known Sherlock for a few weeks. I barely know him. An attraction? Ridiculous.

It didn't take too long for us to arrive at or destination. Mycroft quickly went in as I followed behind.

"Miss Watson, you remember Lady Smallwood."

"Lady Smallwood, it's a pleasure to see you again." Smiling lightly I shook her hand.

"The pleasure is mine. We weren't sure you'd come back to this. I'm very sorry for your loss."

"Thank you. It feels good to be back at work."

"And you're feeling well?" She asked as we all went to sit around the large table.

"For the most part, yes. Some of my memory's still a bit fuzzy, but nothing I can't handle."

"Which is exactly what we wanted to hear." Mycroft turned to me. "We need to come back to work. There's some research we need you to do."

"What do I need to research?"
